So I've been trying the popular brands of gum lately and been pretty disappointed in the lasting power of the flavor in all of them. So does anyone have any suggestions of a brand of gum that isn't crap?

Lots of gums these days will give you a case of diarrhea if you chew more than 2 or 3 pieces a day. But everybodys different. Most of them say SUGAR FREE on them, but they are sweetened with Maltitol, Sorbitol, Mannitol, and Aspertame. Sometimes other things too. These things in certain doses are not good for you. It wont kill you unless you are chewing an ungodly amount of gum, but it sure as hell will mess with your bowels.
Theres been cases of people that had gum chewing habits and would go through several packs a day, and eventually ended up in the hospital.
All these things are sugar alcohols, which are derived from sugar. They all have carbs in them still, just not as many as sugar, but pretty close to the same amount. They also arent as sweet as sugar, which usually means having to use more and you end up with the same amount of unhealthy **** as sugar or even more.
You are actually better off to find gum that has real good old fashioned sugar in it. For me I try to find that in anything I buy. I try to stay away from anything with glucose-fructose(corn syrup) in it. Its hard to find anythign without that **** though anywhere in north america.Last edited by The_Real_Crunk; 02-16-2009, 08:19 AM.

Re: gum
I used to chew cinnamon gum. Big Red mostly. But now I keep a pack of Trident Peppermint to chew after meals when I know I'm nowhere near my toothbrush. And I like the taste. Doesn't really last a long time, though. For gum, I've never found it to have significant flavor past maybe 10 minutes. Most of it goes out in the first two or three, so just chew what tastes good and according to Crunk, don't overconsume. Re: gum
I have been chewing this kind of Excel (Chlorophyll) gum for over a decade

I used to chew a pack a day all throughout highschool, and sometimes I still do at work (When extremely stressed). Now I am down to about 2 packs a week.
I also used to swallow the gum all the time, but now I am cutting that habit.
I now about the whole aspartame argument, but I am sure the 5 cans of diet pop i drink each day will override the gum
I chew a LOT of gum overall... sometimes I spice it up with different flavours....
