Video game fan-fiction

What do you guys think of video game fan-fiction? Is this something that is accepted here? I honestly have know idea on this issue. All I know is that while there is some good fan-fiction out there, a lot of it is terrible.

I did post some FFVIII fan-fiction a ways back, but it's all screenplay style, which proves that I'm not a real writer.

I was working on a story where Cait Sith lives with Cloud and Tifa and is having a personal crisis, but the only draft is stuck on a haunted ZIP disk.

I've written two Silent Hill fan fictions way back in the day. I had them on Fanfiction.net, but I took them down as I learned that it would harm my chances of being published.
