    Playing Zelda II again

If you can get past the mutha****ing swamp, it's actually a lot of fun.
    ...and that's why.

I've resisting the urge to replay Ocarina for the past six months. Kind of saving it for a 4am slump.

I can't even get past the cave that requires a candle.

I never knew the guy at the game over screen was Ganon for the longest time. I just thought it was some monster guy with a frowny face.

Ganon looked scarier in later games. Thank god.

I didnt think at first that the line there was the top of his pig snout, and not a frown. I just thought it was just some random lacky.

They're not so bad if you do this jump/attack combo aiming for the head. Takes some practice.

I loooooove fighting the Iron Knuckles and the various -fos enemies in the later games. Ooodles of fun to be had squaring off with a Stalfos or a Dinalfos, or a good old Knuckle with their axes and swords and such.

Ganon? No, that's Spekkio before he got the job as "Master of War."

I couldn't even figure out how to ACQUIRE the candle for the longest time. There's so many useless NPC's in that game who have absolutely nothing of value to say yet you to have to talk to all of them to figure out where to go.

I keep meaning to go back and finally finish the first two Zeldas.

Then I try them and I'm like "Ohhh yeahhhh." And I stop.

If you have some idea of where to go in the first Zelda, it is still pretty amazing.

The first Zelda gets friggin ridiculous when you basically have to start burning everything you see with the torch to find stairways and secret passges to dungeons. Add that on to only being able to use the torch once per screen, and having to walk to a different area and back to try it on another bush, and it just gets mind numbing.

Also stupid all the stupid hints people give you on where to find things, etc. DODONGO HATES SMOKE. THE DUNGEON IS IN THE EAST.
