Forged PlayStation2?

I was reading this article, and it's about some dude who made fake PlayStation2's out of wood, and traded them into a store for cash...
I'm wondering how the hell the cashiers didn't notice it was made of wood... You can see the wood texture if you look at some of the pictures... And it probably feels a bit different than a real PlayStation too...

looks pretty fake to me, especially when you can see the wood laminate on the side.

Even though this is nowhere near similar, this reminds me for some reason of those two brothers who owned a mom and pop videogame store, and ADVERTISED modded Xboxes, preloaded with 100 or something retail Xbox games. Really, how stupid do you have to be?

the wooden one looks really bad, it's just two blocks of wood painted black with a sticker.

the user-modded PS2 (with the flip top case) I can understand being taken back. if you didnt know what a PS2 looked like, you'd have no idea it was customized.

the one filled with socks and weights though? that's just nuts.

if they were dumb enough to fall for it, oh well, they deserved it. that guy's obviously a lot more clever than the average game store employee. though, that's not saying a whole lot. not like us record store guys. SUP.

Well... In the pictures you can tell it is made of wood, but those are all closeups. The farther back picture in the article that was taken makes it look pretty real, but yeah... I can't believe the people at the store couldn't tell it was a fake... That really sucks for Sony...

I don't think I've ever been to Yahoo games before, and just on a whim, I decided to keep clicking the "next" things at the bottom of the page.

Oh, my god...what a horrible experience. The second most-viewed game for the day or week or whatever was M&Ms Kart Racing. Halo Wars was 10th.
