Yeah I know the dentist cant take all the blame, but still. If she already has problems with the dentist, what makes them think pulling out her EIGHT other baby teeth will improve the situation? Nothing like a smile full of missing teeth to improve a childs self esteem right?

why didnt the parents take her in? who cares what someone says over the phone, if my child was sick like this i wouldnt hesitate. they can do a damn check up and tell me that way that shes fine - which they would clearly see it was not.

Made sense to me, actually. Rather than possibly have several surgeries and visits to the dentist, she only has to do it that once. I'm not saying it's smart to pull out eight or nine teeth at once (presumably out of 20); I'm just saying it made some degree of sense.

The shrink and parents deserve a lot of the blame for letting the girl not eat.

the teeth are a moot issue, the problem is why was the girl not taken into the hospital when she hadnt eaten in weeks! its the safeguards that failed. where was the follow up? where was the due diligence?

no one took the responsibility to say, lets check this out, not even the parents seemed to be concerned enough to force their concern. the dentist maybe at fault for getting the ball rolling but its every other agency all the way down the line thats responsible for her death, including the parents. if even one person decided to be concerned enough to take any form of action then this child would be alive today.

i know europe has some serious issues with overcrowding, i wonder how their situation effected this outcome? either way saying they made changes is not good enough.

You would think the parents would have enough sense to not go off of doctors telling them over the phone that shes fine, knowing she hasnt eaten at all. I know I wouldnt be sitting on the phone all day trying to talk to them. Friggin drag her down there to the office.

These were baby teeth and they get replace with "adult" teeth. Sounds crazy, but at one time you too, were minus 8 teeth and managed to survive.

But I have to agree that it would be no fun.

Please, by all means, if you ever need to have your wisdom teeth removed, have them do one at a time. Then come back a few weeks later, once your gums are no longer swollen to the point where you can't talk, and have them pull out the second wisdom tooth. Repeat two more times. Joy!

I've been down 8 teeth for more than 20 years. All 4 wisdom teeth were pulled at the same time, and soon thereafter, another 4 were pulled to make room in my mouth for the shifting of the rest of the teeth when I got braces.
