I mostly listened to the Grammys ceremony while playing "My World, My Way" on the DS. Below are a few segments that stuck with me, both good and bad:
The Rock: I miss the old Rock from WWE. Most of his jokes hit, with the exception of Paul McCartney (his joke on him got a reaction similar to a thistle bunch blowing in the wind). Overall, though, his near two minute stint was only partly memorable and very much overdone (emotionally, that is).
Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift: Corny...very, very corny.
"Swagger Like Us" with M.I.A., Kanye, Lil Weezy, Jay-Z, and T.I.: Easily the highlight of the night, each performance did the damn thing, but something tells me that they were yelling into the mic so the people could hear them because the sound department couldn't finish their job. Also, it was said that M.I.A. (clearly pregnant) was due to go into labor today.
Justin Timberlake: His introduction (the jokes were corny) was just as corny as the Miley Cyrus/Taylor Swift duo, but I was impressed with his performance alongside legend Al Green.
Lil Weezy and Robin Thicke: It was an insightful performance, paying tribute to New Orleans. Weezy stayed composed, and Thicke delivered a heavenly vocal performance.
Samuel L. Jackson: He was...himself, and I loved it.
Morgan Freeman: I was so glad to see him give in introduction, given he had been in a serious accident. My prayers go out to him and his family.
Jennifer Hudson: She won a grammy, and her acceptance speech was brief, but emotional.
Adele (Best New Artist): I was shocked. I was thinking the godawful Jonas Brothers would get it, but instead it went to her. She was very emotional, and considering her performance thereafter, I'm content that she is the recipient.
Jonas Brothers performance: My mom and I saw it and hated it with every core of our being. I'll admit they have some vocal chops, but the guitar playing was sloppy.
Whitney Houston: She was looking gorgeous, but her literary was questionable. She seemed to stumble reading her lines, but otherwise, no other problems.
That's all I'm going to say. Absorb it, and give your thoughts on this event.
Oh, last thing. Album of the Year? Blech. I thought Weezy or Ne-yo would get it. Oh well.
