I have a question about work laws in Minnesota.
As some of you know, I work at Subway- they only schedule me on Saturdays and Sundays usually.
Anyway, I worked on Sunday (11-4) and on Monday they apparently put up a note about a "Mandatory meeting" on Saturday morning (I didn't work until 4, so obviously I didn't go in.)
Anyway, they were threatening to write me up for not going to the meeting, to which I had replied that was complete bull****, and they should have contacted me about the meeting.
The new manager says, "State law allows the workplace to change the schedule two days beforehand without notifying the employees it pertains to. It is their job to come in and make sure nothing has changed."
Of course, this would mean during the five days I don't work, I would have to drive five miles there and back each day. That's 50 miles. I get 40 miles to the gallon on my Jetta. So that's 1.25 gallons every week. 5 gallons a month, 60 gallons a year. Last time I bought gas it was about 3.50 a gallon, so that's 4 dollars a week.
There is no way in hell they can do that, right?
