What is [game which shall not be mentioned by name]

I've come to realize that, despite having mentioned it several times, I haven't exactly said what [game which shall not be mentioned by name] was in my game forum, and the newest topic about it last had activity in 2007. I guess I sort of took it for granted that everyone already knew what it was.

[game which shall not be mentioned by name] is about a ragtag group of adventerers on a quest to save the dragons from the dragon slayers. *waits a moment for it to register what he just said* Yes, in a complete reversal from most RPGs, the dragons are the victims and the dragon slayers are the villains. Why? Because the dragon slayers are jerks who would rather destroy them all than try to make peace with them. But can you blame the slayers? Not too long ago the dragons made a hostile invasion using an army of ghostly beings known as dragonites. The attack seemed to halt in a hurry, but the damage was done, and now dragonites roam the land. But so long as the dragon slayers are hunting them, the dragons are forced to remain hidden in their own world, the world they were forced to flee to only centuries ago when humans hunted them even then.

The story itself focuses on the themes of morals, betrayal, and prejudice, and the line that separates right from wrong is blurred to non-existance. You will get to know the villains as much as you do the heroes. The world is not in any danger, nobody is truly evil, and ultimately everyone has their own reasons for their actions.

Of course, it won't be all gloom and doom, as there are more lighthearted moments interspersed throughout the quest. But don't take my word for it. Let these guys be the proof:

This being an RPG on RPG Maker 1, it will be using the default battle system, which by now most of you hate. Which is why I'm trying to make sure battles remain interesting enough that you'll be willing to play through the whole quest. Yes, it's a long one. I've got a story to tell, and if what I've got playable so far is any indication, you can expect at least 18 hours from the quest. More if you do any of the optional stuff. And to mix things up a little, there will be the occasional mini-game to play, and each dungeon will feature its own puzzle gimmick or two.

Currently, there is no release date, but I'm hoping for sometime this year.

"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
Working...
