    Korg DS-10 Synthesizer

I've been interested in this for a while now, and it finally arrived in my mailbox today via Amazon.com. I played around with it for about 4 hours tonight, and it's pretty good, as far as software-based analog modeling keyboards go. I like the fact that there's a Kaoss pad included for the two synths (how perfect is that with the stylus?!?!?), even though you are limited to only 3 presets for it.

So far, just messing around, I came up with some interesting sounds (I'm using it mainly for tones so far, even for the drums, kinda Pan(a)sonic-style). You can make 16 patterns per save file, of which there are 18, and use those patterns to create a song of up to 100 measures. Each pattern can contain 4 drum parts and two synth parts, and each drum/synth can be step-recorded or recorded live. There's a surprising amount of flexibility, even though you are limited to 6 voices per pattern.

If any fellow Pavvies have a DS and are interested in making music, as a hobby or to seriously make a song, I would encourage you to try to pick this up, as I have a feeling it's probably going to go out of print at some point, and when it does, it'll probably end up on Amazon and ebay at highly inflated prices ala Electroplankton (which is going for over $100 last time I checked).

This is also multi-DS compatible, meaning up to 8 people with the "game" and a DS can jam together, and can transfer files back and forth, which would seem to encourage remixing one another's work.

All in all, I think it's a pretty worthwhile investment for anyone musically inclined.
