Hollerado (Music)

Hey folks,

A while ago I posted a music video for an up-and-coming Canadian band called Hollerado.

To recap: Through mutual friends, I met them and lived with them for a while (along with anywhere from two to four other roommates)... went to a lot of their shows in Montreal and Ottawa (they played Bluesfest in Ottawa on the same stage as Primus.. don't ask me why Primus was at a "Bluesfest" but so were Infected Mushroom and Snoop, so who knows). Long story short, we became friends and now I'm shamelessly plugging their music.

They spent some of the Summer in New York City to record their first full-length album. It's finished now, but they've decided that instead of whoring for a label or trying to sell the LP independently, they really just want people to enjoy their music, and so their first album ("Record in a Bag") is available for free download from their new website:

So if you enjoy music, check them out. If not, ... well I guess this doesn't apply to you then. Cheers either way.

how did they get dave foley to be in their video?

the song is marginal - but they seem like cool guys.

their website is interesting in theory but hurts my eyes.

If they want people to really enjoy their music they should play something that doesn't suck.

@ Highwind: I don't know how they got hooked up with Dave Foley.. I think it had to do with the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. Foley either performed or attended, and I believe a mutual friend introduced them.

The song in the video isn't my personal favourite; it was recorded for their demo CDs on their own, not in studio.


@ Armored: All I can say is it obviously wasn't made for your ears then. Thank god we don't all share your tastes.

@ all other philistines () Feel free to not share your opinions because I don't really care (and suspect that no one else really does either). The point of the topic is simply that there's free music available for people who want it, nothing more.

Wow, that is a real dickish thing to say. And if anything, that statement will cause more people to share their opinions just because you told them not to. Ya know, human nature.

As for Hollerado, I can't really say anything about them because my computer hates me and won't let me check it out.
