Enterbrain a little too silent on console RPGM

Its been quite a lot of time since the last console release. Has Enterbrain and Agetec finally abandoned forever the console field? The pc rpg makers keep coming but they are still at this point 2d. I really want a next gen console rpgm. But I guess that remains silent. Any news you guys have heard about this? I might have to change myself to Little Big Planet creator until more newer tools are available. My rpg maker discs nearly don't work anymore.

The gaming landscape has changed a lot, so a new console RPGM is going to take a lot more work to be attractive to consumers. You have things like LittleBigPlanet and Kodu that are raising the standards for user-created content. The last thing Enterbrain is going to want to do is release an RPG Maker title that can't measure up to the above examples.

Another thing to consider is graphics. Enterbrain has never, ever excelled at that with their "maker" games. If they release something that doesnt look cutting-edge for the PS3 or 360, then it will be ignored. I don't think that's a risk they're willing to take.

I'd expect a DS/DSi or Wii RPG Maker before a 360 or PS3 title. the DS would have a terrible time sharing games, but the DSi could do it, with the microSD card support.

I don't think that Enterbrain has given up, just that they don't want to rush into things.

Action Game Maker having XNA compatability (the games could be played on a 360) shows that enterbrain hasnt abandoned consoles just yet.

pc's are around forever. a ps3 will die in 4-5 years. i would think a big focus on PC to be natural.

as far as graphics go, i think people would be a little more forgiving it the title were offered as a download rather than retail. XBLA/PSN content doesn't need to look like Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid 4 to be fun. Plus they'd save money by not having to make physical copies.

I wanna hear more about Action Game Maker.
Will it get an NA release?
          Will we support it?
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

We will support it. it has the benefit of exporting in both flash files and .exe files, so we'll have a few different options for hosting games made with it.

Enterbrain hasnt announced a north american release yet.

A next-gen quality maker would be expensive and niche as Valk has said. Too many graphics whores wouldn't like last-gen graphics (entirely reasonable for a game like this), and using one of these takes a lot of work.

What I'd really like to see is RPG Tsukuru 4 localized as a downloadable games for at least one of the current systems.

expensive and niche? i think you confused your terms.

As for RPG Tsukuru 4, I'd say pester agetec but i have no idea what their position is on localizing games from enterbrain anymore.
Though i'm sure pestering wont be enough. I digress...

I think Square Enix should buy Enterbrain and the RPGM franchise. That Way, they can make money off the FInal Fantasy Franchise by releasing Final Fantasy Maker (because Kingdom Hearts,Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, FInal Fantasy Dissidia, FInal Fantasy XIII adn every other game they own isn't enough for Square Enix). They'll give FFM absolutely NONE of the battle mechanics from all the previous games (no magicite, no materia, no weapon customization, no limit breaks, no summons, no nothing!), only 3-4 characters with no party-switching, and be as complicated as RPGM2 and at the same time as limiting as RPGM3, but that won't matter to Square fans because THEY CAN MAKE FINAL FANTASY GAMES! YAY!

Oh, and yes, it seems when it comes to RPGM on next-gen, everyone's a graphics whore.

                    Worst Idea ever.

TBS is coming shortly... I finally got off my lazy self and contacted Datel, so new Max Drive software is coming thus allowing me to release my TBS.

Re: Enterbrain a little too silent on console RPGM

People dont know what they want. They want awesome graphics with the engine allowing them to do anything they want, yet they then dont want to take the time to learn the engine - so they whine that it's too tough. RPG Maker 3 was the product of the last escapade in that scenario.

Of course, there's never going to a "please everyone" RPG maker, but as far as console's go, I'd say 1 did something right.

Me personally? I'm not an artist, so tossing in the options to cusomize a bunch of premade models would be all I need. After that, I'd love to get down and code everything from scratch. C++ offers this (and I use it), but i'm not sure the support of homebrew on wii/ps3.

The fact that games from enterbrain have XBN support prove that they aren't finished with consoles yet.
