What do you think of bandwagons and trends?

Specifically, things like the recent spate of, "What do you think of..." topics, the numerous members having similar or parody black and white "greaser" avatars, the Ronald and Me trend from a while back, and things like my "I just blew..." topic and all its parodies and derivatives last year (two years ago now....my god, time flies!)?

Are you in the camp of, "These trends are

    "

or are you in the camp of, "These little unplanned trends keep things interesting around here"?

Yeah, this was obviously meant as a semi-parody topic, but it's actually meant for serious discussion.

References and ongoing memes can be funny, but a lot of the people here seem to be able to suck the life out of anything funny by running anything and everything into the ground.

Sometimes the assimilation of humor or lack thereof here makes me want to vomit.

I joined in the greaser thing for all of a day or two before I got tired of it. I like wearing my love of a cult tv show with puppets that "no one really cares about" on my sleeve better.

Basically, I'm with Smurtle on this one. With fads/memes and all that, on an individual basis, it's funny for a while then it becomes like an overplayed radio hit. You just want it to stop.

I tend to not like them. I was making fun of that silly "greaser" thing that was going on. And the only reason my I made a "What do you think of" thread was solely because of Ryner saying something about not making another trend. In which case, I couldn't resist to take a jab at him. :3

The only thing that's "garbage" is the dumpster icon itself.

I like most of the fads and memes that take place around here; they keep things funny. But it annoys me to no end when people try to introduce them into a serious topic.

Re: What do you think of bandwagons and trends?

I've always been a fan of trend or theme avatars. I've always found it amusing and cool how it involves itself in the Pavilion without derailing topics. I didn't set out with copying Bigfoot's avatar, I was just looking for a John Travolta avatar when I found that picture that looked just like Bigfoot's and I thought it'd be kind of funny. I'll likely change it again sometime soon.

I don't know what Pavvy memes I don't like, I pretty much like them aaaaall.

                      Especially olol

Well, I guess I can't stand trends like the recent "What do you think..." since you only need one parody and the rest of it is just you idiot being idiots. Jamos is kind of a good example of being bad at jumping on a bandwagon (adding nothing to the trend, just running it into the ground.) Nixon plays it well with "What do you think of meat?" and what not. Crunk is generally pretty good about it too.

I just thought about it...this topic is a bit meta, isn't it?

Well, seeing as that was the plan, I did a pretty good job. I enjoy ruining bandwagons. :3
