Re: Hey, Perversion!
March of the Black Queen won't depreciate in value. If anything this will cause it's value to rise as new gamers who grew up in the n64/ps1 era will rush to ebay in an attempt to collect a piece of "before time history."
The same thing happened when Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth came out. I think the value of the ps1 game actually ROSE as a result.

Re: Hey, Perversion!
I've seen the PS1 version go for as much if not more than the SNES one, which is sad, really.
It STILL pi**es me off to no end that my copy of the SNES Ogre Battle (of which only 20,000 were released in North America) got ripped off a number of years ago. I still had the foldout maps/stat sheets, manual, and original box in good condition.
Guess I'm not gonna need to scour ebay for the PS1 version as I'd been planning.
And I'm NOT gonna make a wall of text professing my everlasting love for the game....well, at least until it comes out on the VC and I spend time playing it again.
How sad is it that it's generally frowned upon to make topics directed at one person, yet Chuck does it, and yet it's perfectly acceptable, because of my notoriety in discussing Ogre Battle at any given opportunity?
I should just NOT buy it to spite all of you.....nah...actually, I'll probably download it and never play it.

...
But really. I don't see what the problem with that is if people can make topics about themselves "Do you like me check yes or no". Oh wait, I'm off topic.
Never played Ogre Battle. I've dabbled in Tactics Ogre, though.Last edited by Toaster; 01-11-2009, 12:38 AM.

Re: Hey, Perversion!
I know. That's not a diss on Chuck or a complaint against him doing it...it just shines a sad light on myself due to my predicable Ogre Battle "fetish."
Basically, I was poking fun at myself. And apparently Jamos is not a fan of SRPGs, as, in my humble opinion, Ogre Battle is pretty much the cream of the crop.

Actually, I am. I own Disgaea 1-3, FFT War of the Lions, FFTA, Jeanne D'ark, finally got into Metal Gear Acid, and I use to own a few others, but they were stolen. Ogre Battle just didn't peak my interest.Originally posted by Perversion View PostAnd apparently Jamos is not a fan of SRPGs, as, in my humble opinion, Ogre Battle is pretty much the cream of the crop.PSN: KingJamos

Re: Hey, Perversion!
Well, Ogre Battle certainly piqued mine. This was the first SRPG I'd ever played, and every one I've ever played since has been held up to Ogre Battle, in terms of using it as a measuring stick, to see if it measures up.
SPRGs are actually my genre of choice, and the only ones I've played that I'd put near the same level are Tactics Ogre (GBA), Ogre Battle 64 (which actually outdoes the original IMHO), FFTA, and Gladius.
I have the first Disgaea, and just could never really get into it. It was a BIT too esoteric for me. Basically, any SRPG that has a focus on micromanagement (or at least one where I can spend hours in the character select screens) gets the nod for me. Disgaea just seemed a little shallow in terms of character building. I'm still trying to find the time to start Jeanne D' Arc, because I've heard nothing but good things.
Right now, I'm a tad addicted to Etrian Odyssey II, which, even though it's a standard level-grind RPG, has (no surprise) an incredibly deep tech tree to fiddle around with for each of its classes.

Re: Hey, Perversion!
The found the character building to be one of the more satisfying things in Disgaea. Though, the amount of time to do so is a bit much. You can create about any kind of character you want, but it requires a bit of transmigration (allows you to go back to level one as a different class or stronger version of your original class. Each time does a good boost to your stats.) The game isn't for everyone, though. Honestly, I didn't play that Ogre game too long. Something has to grab me pretty quickly or I lose interest. Ya know, my ADD.PSN: KingJamos

Re: Hey, Perversion!
EO II is kinda the same. The initial level cap is 70, but you can "retire" your character, who is then replaced by a stat-boosted character that the original character supposedly "trained." If I remember reading correctly, each time you retire a character, the level cap goes up by one, with a max of 99. That's 29 more levels, meaning that, yeah, it's not QUITE in Disgaea territory, but I'll tell you right now...that's a HELL of a lot of grinding.
