    Picked up Final Fantasy XII

I went into Gamestop today and got a used collectors edition of Final Fantasy XII. It was a steal because it was only $12, and the regular ones were the same price. The booklet smells like smoke, unfortunately. I guess the last person who owned this game was a smoker.

Anyway, I’m playing the game from the beginning again. I feel kind of sick doing this because my last save totaled 44 hours. The thing is, I can hardly remember the story because I haven’t played this game in over a year. Since I’m starting from the beginning again, what are some of the things I should look out for this time around? I know not to open any treasure chests this time in order to get the ultimate weapon, but that’s about it.

Btw, how do you get the ultimate weapon? I just ask this for future reference.
Twothorp was in immense pain. The blisters did not care.

Why are we smelling books again?

You should look up at GameFAQs which chests specifically not to open. By not opening any chests you miss out on a lot of free and good equipment, like the Oaken Pole in the Barheim Passage, or a Killer Bow in the Lhusu Mines, and the Demonsbane at the Tomb of Raithwall, long before you can buy it.

Yeah, the stuff in the forbidden chests are all crap.

don't tell me you don't smell your manual.

it's the first thing i do every time i buy a new game. when i sold mirror's edge i rubbed a pine tree air freshener on the manual and i hope the unlucky sap that buys it appreciates what i did.

The thing is, I can hardly remember the story because I haven’t played this game in over a year.
hmmm, at the 44 hour mark? you probably just beat judge gabranth and now have to go through the long and boring 20 hours of reaching the capital place where nothing story oriented happens between. yeah, it wasn't difficult to forget the plot in ffxii because 90% of it happens during the last 25% of the game.

I smell them when they're new, and I smell brand new Magic cards out of the pack, but why smell a used game's manual? There really isn't anything you're going to find that would be particularly pleasant...

It's the smell of cigarette smoke, guys.

Not like you really have a choice in the matter.

It's not like I intentionally wanted to smell the booklet, but I couldn't help smelling it because the smoke smell was somewhat strong. It wasn't very strong, but just enough to notice it while flipping through the book. The last person even left there receipt in it. They traded in three games, got about ten buck out of them, and bought God of War 2 for twenty bucks. I have no idea why that receipt was in there, since FFXII was nowhere to be found on the receipt.

Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure that's where I was at.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't care if a game comes in a **** shaped envelope, let alone what it smells like.

Well I happen to care deeply about the packaging and would not like to receive a game in a **** shaped envelope.

Oddly enough, the smell of certain booklets is quite pleasant. I first noticed this with the Guilty Gear instruction booklet.

So at what point will this game not put me to sleep? Maybe I'll attempt to play it again. Maybe.

I just didn't open ANY chest when I played the game, then after I got the ultimate weapon, I explored and opened things that I missed.

I had a lot of fun with the game, got everyone to level 99 and created a psycho Basch.

I realized after about 16 hours that I opened one of the forbidden chests about 12 times.
