For those of you who missed out on the last Chronicles of Riddick game:

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is currently scheduled for a spring 2009 release. It's a combination of a remake for Escape from Butcher Bay, which a lot of people missed out on for regular Xbox, and a continuing story following the Escape that they feel comfortable calling a sequel. So you get the remake and the sequel all at once. Coming out for PS3 and 360.

I recently bought Escape from Butcher Bay for $5 from Gamestop and got to play a bunch of it in the last few days, and it's a blast. Unfortunately, it isn't backwards compatible with the 360, er, vice versa, but you can't play it regardless on a 360. I'm excited that I'll get a chance to play the whole thing plus with current-gen graphics when it finally hits.

    Who else cares? =D

I like the Riddick universe as well as the character and I feel the one thing holding it back is Universal Studios who thinks the average movie going audience is a complete retard. Pitch Black was a pretty good horror/sci-fi film with a great Alien feel and while CoR was a dumb action film, David Twohy and Vin Diesel insisted on adding in extra character development scenes but Universal was like "Lol, no!"

So the video games are really the only place to expand on this universe and I loved Escape From Butcher Bay. I'm kind of wary about the sequel because it sounds more like a remake + expansion pack than a full game but Starbreeze is a personal favorite company.

I loved how blatantly the actual Chronicles of Riddick movie ripped off Macbeth. It did a few things wrong, but it's still a fun movie with a lot going for it in the right way.

I'll gladly play the remake + expansion pack because there's so much for the character of Riddick to do, even though they've already screwed up the way his eyeshine was obtained.
