Re: Need router suggestions
In my experience, the Linksys (although very popular) tended to crap out very easily. It also disconnected every time the cordless phone rang (which we replaced the phone.) Our family ended up having to go through two routers to find a good one, and ended up getting the Netgear one. (it's very white and pretty and matches the Wii.) We haven't had any problem with it for over a year now, and I get better connection then with any other Wireless I've encountered.
I'd also stay away from wireless adapters and go with internal wireless NICs. But that's personal preference.

Re: Need router suggestions
My Netgear wireless router has been going strong for a good 4 years or so.
Netgear are also the most compatible it seems with all current gen systems with the least amount of problems, IMO.Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS3, PC, WiiU, Wii & 360

Re: Need router suggestions
which netgear router do you have?
since I know you have all 5 current gen systems, I know whatever you're using works with all of them. my current router (2Wire, supplied by my ISP) has never liked nintendo hardware.Last edited by Valkysas; 12-27-2008, 05:44 PM.

Re: Need router suggestions
Just gonna say this really quick, Valk. I have a 2Wire router and I tried to get my Wii to connect to it. I eventually called customer support and they supplied me with an IP and DNS and whatnot designed for the 2Wire that works.
Do you want me to check my settings?

Re: Need router suggestions
I'd say get a standard router then a seperate wireless network hub.
At least that's what I do.Last edited by Red Dragon; 12-27-2008, 08:24 PM.

Re: Need router suggestions
I've got a 2Wire through At&T myself, and I have all the same systems you do, Valk, and have never had a problem with any of them, including the DS and the Wii. The router is upstairs, and my systems are in the basement, and even my cell phone works fine on the wifi. It's only a wireless G, though, not a wireless N (which is I guess the fastest speed out there as of now), but it works fine for me.
Also, if your 2Wire is anything like mine, the modem and the wifi router are both built in to the same unit, so if you decide to get another wireless router, you might also need a seperate modem.

Re: Need router suggestions
Valk, we have the Netgear Rangemax WPN824 wireless router. Now it has had issues with Nintendo stuff before, but it simply requires giving the nintendo hardware its own dedicated IP address and it all works fine.
Although, we are starting to think that this wireless router is about to die on us, as it has been acting weird the past few days, but with the amount of wireless usage this router gets, it lasting 4 years is great. Especially when our last 3 routers havent lasted that long (although 2 of them were netgear also)Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS3, PC, WiiU, Wii & 360

If you have a spare computer and some extra network cards and a wireless card, make one.AIM: JeremyLaCroix
