Yeah, I've worked retail jobs around the holidays. It sucks, but you just have to endure it and try to laugh when you can. Like when some dumbass won't accept that your store is closed, and tries to wedge himself in an automatic (sliding) door so that you have to let him in. And then you don't. Hurr.

Yeah, i worked at ebgames during the holidays of 2003, and it SUCKED because some people were such ***holes and scammers.

We had these people that would come in, and try to trade in the disks only for PS2 games and stuff, and it was clear they had been stolen, because they were trying to trade in multiples of the same game. We turned them away, and no other ebgames or gamestop would let them trade the games in.

Then there are the ***holes that wanted something that we didnt have, and didnt understand that there was such a thing as "sold out", and "dont know when we are getting more", and would demand we get a copy of something for them. There was this one guy, where i had to get condescending to force him to leave.

" I'm sorry sir, if you will give me just a second to make the game appear out of thin air, we will sell it to you"

I pretended like i was mediating, and said "ahoom" a few times, and acted like i was holding a game in my hands. The guy got so huffed and left, and said we were never getting his business again...but he had NEVER been in the store before...not much of a loss.

And the next time you see a retail employee that is working by themselves and are frazzled, be nice to them, they are people too. I went into the new gamestop in Brentwood last night, and this really nice girl was stuck all alone because the other person who was supposed to close with her didnt show up, so once it had slowed down a bit and i had decided what i wanted, i went up to the counter, and told her to finish up some things she needed to do before helping me (like putting money into the safe (yikes!). She was so thankfull that she gave me an extra bonus on my tradeins...sure i didnt get much in the first place, but i got enough to get the PSN card i wanted so i could download the new TFU level, and Crash Commandos from the PSN.

Anyway, my point, and i think the point of this thread...be nice to the people in retail...they are people too, and might spit in your coffee while you arent looking if you arent nice.

I agree. My jobs have taught me to have a lot more patience when I'm on the other side. I try not to be a jerk, especially around the holidays.
