PSP-4000 series (yet another revision) and PSP 2 rumors

    http://www.pspfanboy.com/2008/12/16/...n-development/

Yep, even though it's still a rumor at this point, it's probably true about the PSP 4000 series. I honestly don't know what more Sony could add on the hardware side of things, at least not without giving the PSP a complete overhaul.

Everyone knows that a PSP2 is going to happen, but as far as this rumor being true, it probably is. I can almost guarantee we'll hear about a PSP2 by E3 of 2010 at the latest.

if Sony doesn't make this able to play Playstation 2 games, or if they don't release hardly any on the playstation store, then they are the dumbest company on the planet.

    (psp 2 I mean)

The PSP is pretty much dead thanks to the failure of the format and pirating scene. The rumors of a new model are pretty old but I can't imagine anyone buying it when nearly every 3rd party developer has decided it's not worth developing for.

Shame really. I like the little machine more than the DS.

      I would pay 300$ for a portable PS2.

EDIT: With full network support and the ability to play 2-4 player games wirelessly OH MY GOD I POPPED A *****

          Er, no.

Seriously though. Make the PSP2 compatible with SDHC cards, then somehow make the firmware extremely hard to hack (and then don't **** off your employees so they don't leave and make their own firmware). Sell PS2 games for $10 a pop, release them weekly like nintendo.

          =

A lot of Playstation 2 games could probably already be playable on the PSP. I can definitely see this happening on the PSP2.

a lot of PS2 games are already on the PSP.

that's what a massive chunk of it's library is.

I dunno, I think Sony's in sort of an unwinnable situation with the firmware hackers.

I <3 PSP purely on a hardware basis. I almost wish Sony would drop out it's PS3 and focus just on PSP. It's a sexy device, for sure.
                  ...and that's why.

I find my PSP is as uncomfortable as hell to hold in my hands when Im playing for more than 10minutes. Itd be better if they just stretched a PS2 controller out and jammed a PSPscreen in the middle of it.

They need to stop fighting it and embrace the community with official material. The PSP is LUA compatible and really easy to develop for, and Sony has tried to offer tools to would-be developers and the PSP was perfect for it.

I've never had problems controlling it but there were some cheap accessories that felt the same way by offering a controller attachment that doubled as a charging station.

They make grips that do exactly that.

Dude, I know what you mean. I hate that little thing, too. I sure hope Sony addresses that design problem on the PSP2.

That's right Sony, steal Nintendo's touch-screen idea (like you did with your controller), and implement iPhone tech. Brilliant! Way to be original!

Seriously, though, claiming that the PSP 2 will have a touch-screen is getting ahead of ourselves. The only thing we can do is wait and see.
