Recommend me a game.

New or old, don't really care. I'm using what advantages I have this holiday season to try out games I've been interested in, and now I'm feeling adventurous.

I own (or have access to) all next-gen and previous-gen systems except the PS3.

I've played most everything Nintendo has to offer thus far.

Likewise I'm not interested in playing anything SquareEnix has to offer that I haven't played already, or any RPGs for that matter (unless you can persuade me otherwise).

I'm not interested in GTA4.

I did, I just don't know which Square games you have and have not yet played.

Ys is more like a Zelda game than an RPG.

I would pick up Gears of War 2 but the thing that turned me off most about the first one was that no one wanted to play campaign with me because everyone had already done it. I fear it's already too late to jump the bandwagon for GoW2.

If you don't mind last gen action: I'd suggest God of War 1 or 2, Tomb Raider: Legend or Anniversary, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time or The Two Thrones. Beyond Good & Evil has lots of charm and it can still be found relatively easily. Not a bad pick-up while the sequel is still in the works. Mark of Kri and Rise of the Kasai are usually at discount prices when you can find them, and they're both pretty slick.

I enjoy the Front Mission series, 3 and 4 were both pretty solid, although they require rpg-like investments of time. I'd second SMT: Nocturne, even though it's an RPG. If you're tired of RPGs that babysit you, it'll cure you of that.

No More Heroes, FFCC: MLAAK, BlastWorks, and Okami for the Wii.

Fallout 3, Rock Band 2 (on sale at Toys R Us...the full bundle for $109, unless it's a misprint and they corrected it), Rez, Meteos Wars, and E4 for the 360 (plus Braid, but you've probably already played that). Plus Indigo Prophecy and Psychonauts as either Xbox Originals downloads or the disc versions if you can find them.

I'm not sure if you have either of the handhelds, but I would also recommend Lumines for the PSP and Meteos for the DS, as well as FFTA2 and Bangai-O Spirits for the DS as well, plus Space Invaders Extreme and Patapon for the PSP.

Plus, Puzzle Quest is HIGHLY recommended if you've not played it. It's on the 360 as an XBLA game, and also on the DS and PSP.

If you have a PSP, update your firmware, go to the Playstation Store, and get Everyday Shooter and/or flOw (I'm not sure exactly how these control for the handheld, though).

Also, the systems you refer to are not "next-gen" any more. They're current gen.
