"this town is standing, and now it's not"

I noticed that on the field map, under the standard event editor, you can make the events look like towns and some ruins (I think), which gave me this idea. On the field map, create 2 invisible events right next to each other. Call one "pre" and the other "post". Change Pre to a town graphic and Post into a ruins graphic. move the 2 events so that they're right on top of each other. Create a 3rd event with a value conditional branch with 2 choices: Variable=0 and Variable=1. Under Variable=0, display off Post and display on Pre. Under Variable=1, display off Pre and display on Post. Does that make sense? I hope so.

EDIT: I left some things off. Because they're events, you can set Pre to touch, put in a QA branch asking "do you want to enter town", and under "yes" you warp the player to that town. In the town itself, place an invisible event to warp the player right outside Pre.
