    OMG! LIBBY ART

Yes, my over-Photoshopped imagary. ^_^ One of my characters for my comic. a WIP, which probably needs a ton more work, but I felt the need to share. The small size causes for much loss of details. Then again, I have a larger resolution on my computer, so it may seem waay huge for people. I'll shrink it if needed.

The background is..well..lacking. Because that is now where I am stuck at, because I can't add the last of the reflective lighting because I don't know what color it will be.

Plz to enjoy and critique. (btw, the proportions, yeah..they are crap because I didn't care, so..yeah.)

I agree with Gloomy about the arm, as it distracts me. I also think she would look better if she wasn't standing on her toes.

        Step away from Photoshop.

Your work reminds me of girl's middle school notebooks.

Do you do the four finger thing too?

Not really the four fingers thing, just fingers that are hidden due to perspective. I think the issues with the photoshop effects are mainly because I don't do to well with coloring itself. This is probably a bad character to actually show off any coloring skill, mostly because she lacks any sort of actual detail..period.

Yes, a lot of hair. It's a cheap plot device. If I ever get around to finishing the image, you'll be able to figure it out. However, with the amount of time I've already put into it, I think I may get bored of it before I finish.

Proportions. Yes, proportions are BAD, bad. I mentioned this. I drew it just to draw it, really, as I am coloring it mainly to get some practice. And her toes...as well, I hate her toes, I think this is mainly a character sketch sort of drawing..piece of art. ^_^ Whatever it is.

How can she be cross-eyed if she doesn't have pupils?

I'm supposing the dislike of the Photoshop special effects can take away from the drawing, but that's the problem with this particular character. I have very little skill and less desire to actually draw the star scape, so I cheat and use waaaay to in-depth Photoshop tutorials to archive it. It's okay, I've been told my space-scapes need a lot of work. :P

I need to start uploading this stuff and sharing when it's in the pencil stages, then I wouldn't feel so bad about having horrible proportions I have no chance of fixing at this moment.

Thanks for the critiques. I know what to work on now! ^_^

                  Nice coloring exercise.

I'd work on variation of line width.

                    Re: OMG! LIBBY ART

Like others, I noticed the weird arm widths... and I think it looks very dissonant (and not too good) to have her standing on some tiny, monotone patch of land at the bottom of blackness.

Okay, so having said that, I think the rest of the body figure looks great, and I for one absolute love the Photoshopping effects. Looks interesting and otherworldly. Very, very good on the body, and not too bad on the hair gradients. I like it!

If you look up a "Glow" tutorial online and give either the atom-heart or the whole body just a little bit of glow... it would be no less than amazing.

                      She does indeed look cross-eyes.

Look closely at the corners of her eyes.

Reminds me of the girl on the beach in the Xenogears opening.

I agree with the above, go back to pencil and paper for a while, keep things simple.

Use basic stick figures and shapes to keep things in proportion. It's what I do and it works for the most part. The few times I draw these days anyway.

I remember nixon doing something pretty bad-ass in her comic where she made a starry sky by spattering white-out (I'm assuming?) on a black background. You could try techniques like that if you want the star effect in her.

The best advice one of my university professors gave me was that you should simply pretend that Photoshop filters don't exist. They can be spotted so easily now and it's depriving art of its individuality.

                          Anyway, she has nice legs.

Actually, it was white acrylic paint. You can use a regular brush or an old toothbrush to spatter it on there, just practice a little before you work on the final image.

The preportions don't really bother me, Libby. I wouldn't have noticed them if you hadn't pointed them out.

It's the planet and the comet that stand out for me. They're both in a style that doesn't fit with the line art. They feel like they're sitting on top of the picture, if that makes sense.

I do like the coloring other wise though.

                              Also, she's totaly crosseyed.
