The island of Lamington has known peace for quite some time after a war with the neighbouring vampire-inhabited island of Vulcanus. This has allowed for the rapid growth of magical technology (not magitech, just magic that imitates some modern technology). Currently, King Lamington XII is away in Vulcanus on royal business and the Queen is off filming a new reality CJR show, leaving Prince Lamington XIII on the throne for the time being. Prince Lamington possesses the hereditary power of Ao-Majitsu (a.k.a. Beastmastery), the power to command Beasts.
Beasts are thought to be the origin of all monsters and demi-humans, who were created through Beast crossbreeding. The few remaining pure-blooded Beasts are much sought after as both novelty items and battle companions, although only Beastmasters can fully control them. The Prince currently does not own any Beasts, the palace Niwatori having recently died.
One night, Marie the (French) Combat Maid hears strange sounds coming from the Prince's bedchamber, at which point she alerts Head Maid Midori Menthe of the disturbance. Little does Menthe know that this incident will develop into a national crisis...
Upon arriving in Lamington's bedchamber, Menthe discovers a group of brigands attempting to kidnap the Prince. She attempts to defeat them, however, one among them, a man named Terry, commands a Beast (a Kaeru) to delay her while they escape. Menthe confronts the Beast while sending Mutant Blobs to attack Terry. The game begins with Terry attempting to escape the Blobs and return to the bandit campsite.
The Prince is taken to an undisclosed location, and Menthe decides that she will scour the kingdom to find him. She will need help, however, and that help will come from a very unexpected source...
Meanwhile, two mysterious siblings scour the ruins beneath Lamington Cavern, searching for the source of a "spiritual disturbance."
It just so happens that both Menthe and Terry are going there as well...
Anyways, the party will change very often throughout the game, although after a certain point the "core three" will take over.
Here are some characters:
Menthe: A user of Kuro-Majitsu (Black Magic), Menthe uses her trusty Flare Arrow spell to blaze her way out of most tricky situations. After becoming Queen Regent in the absence of the real Queen, she decides to travel and find Lamington.
Terry: An amnesiac with the power of Ao-Majitsu, he desires to team up with Menthe in order to battle their "common enemies." He hurt his head after the kidnapping (his dramatic leap out the castle window was not a good idea), but he believes that he could be a great asset to Menthe if only she would stop trying to kill him.
Allan: A young boy gifted with his mother's healing power of Shiro-Majitsu, he sensed a disturbance within the Lamington Cavern ruins and travelled there with his sister, Roxanne.
Doom Princess Roxanne: Daughter of the current Doom King and sister to Allan, she inherited her father's powers rather than her mother's. Her control over the power of DOOM! is great, and she is extemely powerful.
The Combat Maids: French Maids who tend to the castle.
The Mystic Three: Renowned bandits, and Terry's employers.
Features include a cooking system (it's very simple...
), a Library of monster information (inhabited by the Librarian and his wife, Martha), a loot system similar to that of FFXII, the opportunity to recruit various Beasts to the party, a system of portals connecting all major game locations, and a storage system. Also includes a TV (known as CJR (pronounce "seizure")) system, and a vampire and his P.O.R.N. I'll leave that one up to your imagination for now...
