Yesterday in the middle of playing call of duty, my PS3 just shut down. I pressed the startup button again, and it turned off. So I turned it off in the back and tried again, nothing. I let it sit over night and just tried 5 minutes ago, it turned on fine, but only stayed on for 20 seconds. Does anybody know whats wrong? If you do, I would love your help.

Re: Whats wrong with my PS3?
Where do you have your PS3 located? It is in a cabinet, or in the open?
It probably overheated, thats usually a symptom that it has overheated.
How long have you had it?
Have you been keeping it clean and dusting it regularly?Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS3, PC, WiiU, Wii & 360
Intel Core i5, Radeon HD 5870, 8gig ram

Re: Whats wrong with my PS3?
My brother e-mailed Sony. No reply yet. My PS3 is in the open, i've had it for about 1 and a half years and I clean it like once every 2 weeks. Also I have no idea how I would revrese the fans. I have the 60gig model, the one they just happen not to make anymore...

Re: Whats wrong with my PS3?
Had something similar happen like that, except it was for my desktop, not the PS3. A small plastic piece broke, disconnecting the heatsink, where my desktop would just turn off after several seconds of turning it on. I now run my desktop tower turned on its side, where gravity fixed the situation.
Did you hear anything inside the PS3 prior to the problem? Try turning the PS3 on its side instead of it standing up.

Re: Whats wrong with my PS3?
I'm not sure about DB's problem, but I'll have to add something to this.Originally posted by Gloom- Turn console off via the main power switch on the back..
Before the first step, make sure the PS3 is on standby. I was informed in several places that turning off the PS3 by the main switch while still running has a chance of breaking the PS3 itself. There's debate on that, but I wouldn't risk it.
