In memorium of Foxs Saturday Morning Cartoons

As someone had said in another topic, Fox is nixing Saturday morning cartoons. However, what I didn't know was that their block would be replaced with infomercial. Just great. Infomercials are space-fillers that should only be broadcast when people are asleep, not at a time when kids wake up on a school-less day, waiting for entertainment.

In a way, I feel both happy and sad. The happiness stems from the fact Fox had been broadcasting mostly lukewarm shows, with the exception of TMNT. However, even that show began to turn on me, so I said the hell with the whole Saturday morning block. I used to anticipate watching cartoons such as Batman, Taz-mania, Animaniacs, and Tiny Toons during their weekday lineup, but I was crushed to discover that Fox did away with it. I was also eager to catch cartoons on all the basic TV networks when I was a much younger lad. [i]I didn't mind forcing myself to wake up at 6:30 in the morning, because damn it, they had something on that I really wanted to see. It seemed the shows had better depth and were less corny than what they showed now.

The sadness...well, Saturday morning cartoons had been a staple for television for so many years, and one network is basically turning their backs on the new generation who crave animated entertainment. I should consider myself blessed that I had a childhood full of memorable shows, so that if I begin reminiscing just a little bit, I'll go to the wiki or any other website that may have information on the show. Sure, there may be other networks available with Saturday morning cartoons, but they're not going to draw me in like they used to. I'm at an age where I would rather sleep in. I'm at an age where I'm picky about which cartoon I'll prefer.

Infomercials won't solve their problem. Fox is running away. Therefore, as I hold up this glass of white grape juice cocktail, I want to at least toast to what Fox Saturday mornings used to have: decent and memorable entertainment.

Why are you sad when it's happening just because kids are tuning in to other channels with better shows? Sheesh.

Won't somebody please think of the children???

But really. The relationship between children and television is already sad and unhealthy. Go outside.

Breath in the toxic air and expose them to radiation, of course.

The obvious solution to this problem was to just produce better cartoons.

I was wondering why all the 4kids cartoons were showing on Fox and CW, with the current seaons on CW while Fox was airing old ones.

Cartoons on FOX was standing on it's last leg.

Rather see them do away with the whole damned thing than
continue airing the piles of bull**** they've been showing.

                      THANKS 4KIDS TV.

Funimation was a lot better, but still...

One thing I remember kept me watching cartoons on Fox in the early 2000s were those decent seasons of Digimon. Anyone here agree with me?

By 2000 I was spending my Saturday mornings watching reruns(that I'd never seen) of MST3K.

There were still cartoons on Saturday morning? Huh.

Saturday Morning died when Fox Kids started airing nothing but 4kids shows.

When Cartoon Network started focusing on older generations with Toonami.

When the networks started realizing that kids stay up till 3AM and sleep until noon.

But what do I know, I grew up on PBS Kids and TNMT
