I'll have a 360 in less than two weeks. I've already figured out how to let it get online via my laptop, but one nagging question remains -
Horizontal or Vertical?
My desk can accomodate it either way. it's going to have a lot of breathing room no matter what. What I'm concerned with, is if it gets hotter in one position than it does in the other. it looks like either way, it will be sitting on some of it's vents. which ones are the most important to keep exposed? also, the disc drive. is having it vertical going to put more strain on the disc drive, which would spawn DREs? I'm going to be installing damn near any game I get for the system when I play it, but not all games support installation (crackdown) and some perform worse with an installation (halo 3). and of course, old Xbox games cannot be installed.
so I really need to know this from the long-time 360 owners. as far as heat and DREs are concerned, which position is best?
any other tips I need to know to keep the system alive as long as possible?
I know the power brick is fairly massive, and should not just be placed on the carpet. I have an old VCR stuffed behind my desk (nowhere else to put it) that I was planning on putting the brick on. will that be okay?
