    Zelda recommendation

I recently procured that preorder Zelda GC disc with OoT and Master Quest, as well as the cel-da game, and the GC version of Twilight Princess. I'm kinda in the mood to play a Zelda game in the near future, so of these, which should I play?

On a related note, the only Zelda games I've ever played are the original NES version, Zelda 2 for NES, and OoT. I know the SNES version is on the Wii VC, but I've never played it, nor Majora's Mask, which I've heard from a number of people is highly underrated. Is Majora's Mask on the VC? And not including the 4 Swords thing(s), are there any other console (ie-not handheld) Zelda games I'm forgetting about?

And I was able to get the GC Twilight Princess for $27 on closeout from my work. Was it worth it? I think I'd rather play Zelda the old fashioned way, instead of waving the damn Wiimote around, but I've also heard the Wii version is superior, and that the wagglin' is fairly fun and intuitive.

Play Wind Waker first, so you won't realize how easy its puzzles are or how few dungeons it has until you've already enjoyed it.

My favorite is Link's Awakening for the Game Boy.

Did you play all of Ocarina of Time? If not, play that one.

What John Mora said. It's a thoroughly enjoyable game, but unfortunately, everyone else used Ocarina of Time as a benchmark for measuring Wind Waker and it was OMG CELDA AND TOO MUCH SAILING.

Majora's Mask is criminally underlooked, but you might might want to hold off on playing that one until you have played Ocarina and have kind of "mastered"/"gotten tired of" the Zelda flow. Otherwise you'll get frustrated and not be able to appreciate just how different Majora's Mask truly is.

        So...

        1. Wind Waker.
        2. Ocarina of Time.
        3. Majora's Mask.

Throw in A Link to the Past if you feel like it, whenever.

Majora's Mask isn't on Virtual Console, BTW. You'll only be able to get it on that OTHER Zelda compilation disc. People are speculating that Nintendo is going to have trouble emulating the expansion pak-required games on the VC.

Heh. Well, I played literally up until I had just finished the last dungeon, and was ready/able to fight Ganon(dorf....whatever his name was in that one), and I just kinda put it down and never played it again.

Some weird complex I have about finishing things I start, I guess.

Yeah, I'd also play Link to the Past first. Because playing it after you've played all the others sort of drains it of its charms.

I think Miyamoto chose the cel-shaded style for Wind Waker on purpose because the story is pretty damn dark. It starts out simple enough and then it hits you what happened after OoT and then Ganondorf makes his final speach and all you can say is "Damn."

Majora's Mask is... okay. I appreciated the whimsical and fey inspired universe and being able to transform because Zelda's equipment and puzzles are starting to get boring, but the game suffers from linear level design and after a while constantly going BACK IN TIME gets stale quick.

My favorites are Link's Awakening for Gameboy and Majora's Mask for N64. Each set a dark mood which I like.

I appreciated the fact that Ganondorf's the friggin' hero practically in that one.
