    Tech help

    Okay here's the deal.

I'm trying to get Xbox live working on my 360 but it keeps saying "your console could not form a lease with your DHCP server". I'm running a wire connection using a netgear router.

    How can I remedy this?

    Methods I've tried

Turning the computer off, unhooking and hooking back up the cables

Bridging a connection (the computer won't allow this)

Any helpful words? or should I just get a wireless connection?
Find a dog, honk it's nose. If you are bothered by this sentence. I guess you're just not cool enough for the noses.

Unless I misunderstood what you wrote, I didn't read that you power cycled the router. Also make sure you actually have a router and not a switch. Some devices work with routers and not switches, but I don't know if X360 has a problem with that or not.

Yeah I did power cycle, I just didn't know it was actually called that.

Turns out the router I have doesn't even have DHCP, so I'm gonna get a wireless router instead which should work. If not I'll post again.

If your router doesn't have DHCP, it's likely a switch, not a router. It could be a router with DHCP disabled. If so, refer to the manual to see how to turn DHCP on.

Yeah the problem was it didn't have a DHCP. I got a wireless router and everything is peachy keen. Thanks for the help though.
