Tedious is definitely the right word. Also, pretty hard. I wasn't ready to play an RPG with so many instant deaths at the time.

The gameplay is innovative, but still very old school. Random encounters more often that is healthy, unfair level of difficulty, etc. But the story is enthralling, and the characters are memorable.

I tried playing it a few years back and didn't really like it. I remember never knowing where to go and wandering around aimlessly in hopes of activating events.

I would so get this if I didn't already have the game. I don't know what you guys are complaining about, it wasn't that hard... though, the final dungeon was a pain. I kept looking for a way to leave and heal up in town, but never could find a way out. I know there are ways out of the place, but I could never find them. Then I fought the final boss, barely survived his first form, then he wiped everybody out with one attack while everyone was at full health.

I'm playing this, too, sort of. It'd be a brilliant game if it wasn't a RPG.

I mean, it's great. But it's just got weird problems. Like, why does it seem like your party is right in the middle of a conversation that is hard to follow whenever you go to a new area?

The game's difficulty makes sense to me once Patryn told me Innocent Sin's a lot easier. It seems to me that they wanted Eternal Punishment to be for people who were already experts at the earlier game.

It sold out literally in the span of three hours.

They'd better be printing more otherwise this was probably the stupidest announcement they could have ever made; so many people over on the Atlus forums are complaining.

I love Eternal Punishment. LOVE IT.

Hell, I was a day 1 Innocent Sin player after the translation patch because I loved EP so much.

Yes, EP is difficult. Yes, it can be kind of arcane.

In terms of story, a lot of the problem is that the game is talking around stuff that happened in Innocent Sin. It makes a lot more sense if you've played both games.

I still rank it as one of my favorite games of all time.
