I was sitting down here, watching High Fidelity for the first time in years, and remembering how wonderful that movie was, and how the last time I watched it, I had a smile plastered to my face the entire time, and I get this big whiff of maple syrup. I kept smelling it, and the smell would not go away. The last time the speaker wires became a bit disconnected on my home theater setup, due to the cats getting behind there, and I had turned it up, it kept shutting itself down, and there was a vaguely maple syrup-like aroma about it. The movie WAS turned up pretty loud, but my receiver had yet to shut itself off. So I wondered for about 20 minutes where the smell was coming from.
Then I went upstairs to go out and smoke a cigarette, and one of the guys who lives here had made some french toast for dinner, using cheapo syrup, and probably even put some in the pan with it while they were cooking. Here it is, 2 and a half hours later, and it still smells like cheapo syrup down here.
