I thought this might be a cool idea. Once every year a decision is made to make an RPG Maker game based on the Pavilion’s choice. First, a person or group of people get voted on whom to develop the game. This can be decided before the conception of the game, or after preparations are complete. People decide on a general story, and then send plot details to that person or group of people. As plot details develop, the story gets updated for the public viewing without revealing any spoilers. This process continues until the story is complete. Then, people vote on which RPG Maker the game is developed for, and which features that they would like to see be put into the final game.
The following is only a suggestion, and you will probably need to make up your own set of rules on this.
If multiple developers are chosen, such as three or more, one would have to be the director of the project. As a director, he/she would be in charge of making the game stay on track, making sure the game stays in it’s original vision, etc, as well as help develop the game, too. There are many ways to go about developing a game, and the process will have to be discussed between everyone. Such as whether to create the maps first, towns, characters, etc.
The major problem I see with this whole idea is getting people to comment on developing the game and seeing it through. There would a lot of hurdles to overcome, such as communication with the game between developers if more than one developer is chosen, since no more than one person can work on it at a time. Lack of interest in the project is also a possibility, and that would basically cripple the whole idea. The Pavilion would have to show a strong interest and comment to something like this in order for it to be considered. I definitely think that this is a plausible idea, and it should be discussed between the administrators before any one of them says no to it. I really hope this idea takes off, because it is doable and while there would be some hard work to overcome, I think it could yield some extremely good games if applied right. The only thing I can do right now is hope for the best. *fingers crossed*
