    Musashi Samurai Legend?

Was it worth the money? Is it as good as the first Brave Fencer Musashi? I'm about to go out and buy it, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

If the slapdash demo and the lukewarm-to-negative reviews are any indication it's not worth it.

He's the only one I've seen so far that seriously dislikes it. I found it a hell of a lot of fun.

It's basicaly the same as the ps1 version, just on ps2, and yes it kind of is in a since becuase, you play as the same musashi, just cooler and older,by
about ten years, witch would make him twenty three.Only difference is the fact that the princess is different.I hope they make a more derect sequel though, maybe 1 year later, and musashi has kids with the princess, and make the sequel have more blood and gore, mature gore and blood.

Oh, that's it? He's just older?

I thought since it was some princess aside from Filet, he's just a different incarnation of Musashi or somepin.

                      Re: Musashi Samurai Legend?

Well, the gameplay mechanics are somewhat different and more action-oriented than the previous game. Very exciting. Lots of meele fighting, too.

The new way Musashi learns his abilities improves over the old way, in my opinion; you observe the enemy with the focus button (the cam view won't change), and just as it's about to strike you, everything will freeze briefly and a button will appear over Musashi's head. You hit the button and a button/directional button combo will appear. Input this and Musashi will learn said technique permanently. This can also be used for counterattacking.

A review I typed up during my playthrough can be found in the last MSL topic.

Oh, and it's basically a different incarnaction of Musashi. He appears differently depending on who summons him, I guess.

He's also in a completely different world, however the world from the first game is mentioned once early on.

                          Re: Musashi Samurai Legend?

I like to think of it as a remake of the old game, only 80% of it is more geared towards action. Thinking it's the same Musashi only older is like saying Rinoa is Yuna's grandmother.

                          Pros:
                          - Fantasically stylish graphics. Enemies will slice open in a variety of ways depending on what moves you finish them with.
                          - Learning new techniques and incorporating them into combos is neat.
                          - There's a minigame Arena where you fight hordes and hordes of bosses and monsters, which is a lot of fun, actually.

                          Cons:
                          - Painstakingly repetitive. Fight your way through a large number of enemies in a large, linear stage. Save Maiden #1. Fight your way through more enemies in a larger, linear stage. Save Maiden #2. Maybe throw in a very simplistic puzzle in there or small sidequest now and then. And don't forget the awkward platforming in 3D environments.
                          - Doing combos is the equivolant of Kingdom Hearts. Repetitive hitting of the X button followed by one special move of your choice at the end of the chain. You can't chain together special techniques, which really ticked me off.
                          - The sound is horrible. The music, even though they claim it's brand new music by some wierd Japanese rock band, isn't something you'd want to listen to all the time. The voices are extremely awkward and overdone. Enemy and action sound effects are repetitive and boring.
                          - The storyline is about as full of depth as glass of water. Don't expect anything intelligent in the dialogue. Unless you're 7 years old.

I liked it at first a lot, but as I got to about the 4th/5th stage, it dawned on me how horrible the game is. I miss the old Musashi.

                            Thank you.

I gleaned all that from the half-a-level demo.

and maybe some hard fast loving. and dinosaurs. and aliens and the aliens want to go to a ballgame but you say "no thanks I have to study for the All-School Spelling Bee". and then everyone everywhere dies.

I liked Samurai Legend a lot. definately worth my money. it was by no means anywhere near Brave Fencer but it was one of the better games so far this year in my opinion. way fun.
