3 Day sale. 50" Samsung Plasma HDTV. $1099.

    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0099752&catid=

Thats almost as much as I paid for my 32" LCD HDTV almost two years ago. I always hear bad things about plasma TVs comared to LCD TVs. theres gotta be a catch to this TV being so cheap? Does it suck and they are trying to get rid of it? Is a newere better model on the way and they are clearing out the old stock?

    I DONT KNOW!

The only ways that plasmas are inferior to LCD is that they are susceptible to burn-in (most plasmas have ways to reduce the risk and you won't burn-in if you don't leave it on for days at a time, anyways), they tend to have more reflective screens and are heavier, I believe. But they come a lot closer to the quality of old CRT TVs than LCDs do, especially if you buy a really good model. Don't know how good the Samsung is, but hey, at that price you'd almost be crazy not to get it.

Oh, wait, it's not 1080p. That's pretty lame.

I will never spend over $200 on a TV.

That deal is for s*** if it IS 720p.

At my work for the past month, we've got Panasonic 42" 720p plasmas for $799, and 50" 720p plasmas for $999.

If you want to go the 1080p route, they are $999 for the 42", and $1399 for the 1080p 46".

And trust me on this....Panasonic plasmas are far superior to Samsung plasmas. If you're looking at LCDs, I would ALWAYS recommend a Samsung over a Panasonic. But if you're looking at plasmas, you'd be a fool to spend $100 more, and get an inferior product.

Also (pitch for work here), if you qualify for a Sears card, you can take an extra 10% off at the register, or get 2 years with no interest to pay it off.

F***!!!! I NEED to get out out of work mode when discussing TVs here.

Gotta remember thats all in crazy CANADIAN prices though. Everything gets marked up here.

That $1399 1080p would be like $2000 here.

I hope you never plan to buy a current-gen (or onward) console, then.

Oh, wait. Your TV is at the edge of your bed, so I guess you don't need anything over 13" then.
