NaNoWriMo Progress Topic (Just Four Days Left)

    NaNoWrimo's Official Page

We've been talking about it a bit in the Writers' Guild social group, but I want to extend the message to the Pavilion as a whole, for anybody who might have the time or inclination to contribute to the NaNoWriMo this time around.

For anybody not familiar with it, November is National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo, and it's the 10th anniversary of this thing. I signed up last year, but didn't end up contributing, and after several false starts over the last few years, I think I'm finally in a good place where I can at least attempt it.

I've added in my personal touches to my profile here in support of the WriMo, and anybody who wants to contribute, feel free to do the same, which you can figure out how to do at their website. You can read all about it over there at the link up top and see if it's something you're interested in joining in.

For those who are planning it, my username over there is SURPRISE SURPRISE "bigrickcook" and if you want to add me as a Writing Buddy, I'm down for it.

But it's 15 days away, and I'd like to get a good idea of who's gonna play along. So let everyone know here if you're man enough. Or woman. Whatever.

I plan to, but I wasn't gonna say it outside of the group until I had a good chunk done. :3

Since I finished school, I've been looking for reasons to write. I've never really liked the concept of NaNoWriMo, though.

I GUESS I'LL THINK ABOUT IT

Huh...I've never heard about this....So, what? Do people write their own novels or work on the same one? (For some reason, this has the vibe of a marathon-writing thing.)

          (Actually looks at site.)

Ah, well sucks for me. (So much to do, so very little time and inspiration....Well, maybe just time. )

          ...Aw forget that!

(Goes back onto site and comes back.)

Well, I did it. I entered. This is probably gonna suck but I entered.

I'm thinking of participating, but as I have no idea for a plot, it may not happen. But yeah, if anyone's on, I'm Fruple there too and a few nudges to actually start would be greatly appreciated.

              You should do it!

As for your writer's block, how about thinking of a character, a beginning line, a situation, and then going from there? Or maybe surf the internet (sometimes that gives me ideas, like when I see homemade music videos or gameplay movies on youtube).

If you do decide to join, I hope to meet up with you and other pavilionites there. (I'm also "162" there.)

...By the way, what are "writing buddies"?

How many words is considered a novel?

                  In NaNoWriMo, it's 50,000 words.

                    quality > quantity ?

                    Bah. Good exercise, I guess.

Actually, the point is to put quantity > quality for a month. The idea is, once you've got 50,000 words, you're going to take the time to edit it and make it nice. But if you write 5000 REALLY NICE WORDS you're much less likely to finish the piece. It seems to be true enough.

My novel is 80,000 words. A bit above, but 80K is a nice round number.

Closing in quickly on the start date. My word-counter will be fullllllll this time. I hope. Just making sure people don't forget about the WriMo.

Oh, and Loki, you never did get around to reading the rest of my novel, didja? =(
