No. Below freezing temperatures aren't good for games.

Stick a CD in a fridge.

              See what happens.

it's easy to thaw frozen cds by sticking them in the microwave for a few seconds

Hey now, I've done that before with CDs in the microwave. It cracks and sparks and sets on fire, but it doesn't EXPLODE like that.

Unless you do a whole bunch. Or are DUMB ENOUGH to just let it keep going.

That's funny, I googled it, and found directions to your barn.

Seriously though, if they're already frozen, warm them up very very slowly in a dry place that's cold, but not below freezing (like a garage attached to a house). You just don't want dew damage.

Now I wonder if I've left all my games in the garage where it gets below freezing for long periods in the winter, or if I put them in my closet. =\

The manuals pretty much always warn against storing them in very high or low temperatures. But then they also warn against storing them in direct sunlight or in water or an oxygen based atmosphere. Yeah the warnings are kinda unnecessary.
