It's something I added recently to weed out the spam-bots.

The TOS says what to put there. the TOS that everyone is supposed to read when they register. The first line in the TOS mentions that there's important info you'll need to know within it if you want your registration approved.

Bots won't even notice the field, since it's not required for the membership to go through, and bots certainly don't read the TOS. but before we activate any accounts, we check that field. if they didnt put what they were supposed to, then we delete the account. I don't feel bad about it, since I'm deleting either a bot, or someone who can't follow one simple instruction that's in big bold letters on the first page you see when you go to register.

sometimes I overlook it, but that's very rare.

I am most upset by this topic. I was mislead.
