Hello! I am new to the pavilion and wanted to sign up so i could talk about RPG Maker and possibly get some opinions on the story I am working on!
I am using RPG Maker 1 by the way.
The story opens with a small place called Sonic City. As the game opens up the city is on fire. The Mayor of the city is confronting a group of knights who are there to capture a boy named Ace. His parents step forward and say that he went into the woods. The knight says his guards will wait in town for the boy to return, and takes his parents with him to see the king. The king wished to see all 3 of them. They boy comes out of his house, which is to the far north of town and realizes that the place is burning he begins to panick as a witch appears from nowhere, turns him into a cat, and takes him into the forest away from town. There she talks to him and explains that she is trying to help and she has disguised him. Ace is confused but before the witch, who reveals her name as Emma, can explain more, they are jumped by goblins. Ace is knocked unconscious as Emma flees, telling Ace she will be back. Not long after they leave, a fairy passes by and decides to help the injured kitten. Ace awakens in the fairy village and meets the fairy that helped him, Kara. He mentions the goblins and she exclaims that they are thieves. They mug anyone that enters the forest and constantly fight with the fairies. Ace also mentions Emma and Kara tells him the town elder will probably know. They go to see her only to see only to find the same group of goblins fleeing the elders house. Upon entering the elder tells you and Kara that something of vital importance has been stolen from her. You ask about Emma and she tells you that in exchange for getting her item back, she will tell you about Emma.
On the other side, Mitch, the knight captain, has just delivered Ace's parents to the king. While he waits for his guards to return with Ace, he is given two tasks by the king. One is to slay a dragon that has been terrorizing the town and two is to catch a thief that is going around the town robbing everyone. Before this happens however, a monkey appears and talks to Mitch about becoming a knight, for he is a formidable swordsman. Mitch agrees if the monkey can defeat some knights in a tournament. When he does he teams up with Mitch to slay the dragon and stop the thief.
The King is trying to find 4 specific people. The entire royal family has been trying to open a gateway to the dark realm (not actual name. just a working name. Suggestions? =) for centuries. Spanning back, it was closed by Ace's ancestors about 200 years ago. Now the king needs 4 people of this bloodline to reopen the gateway. Ace, his mother, his father, and you find out later in the story, Sticky is part of his bloodline. He is Ace's grandfather. (The reason the king needs 4 people of the bloodline is because when it was sealed, 4 of his ancestors sealed it. So it needs 4 of them to be reopened.) Their blood must be spilled at an altar for the gateway to be opened. The king wishes to spread is rule into the other realm so that he can become all powerful. But this backfires on him pretty much as soon as he enters the realm.
I don't wanna give away to much more of the story. I have already said alot lol. I know some of it is probably a bit cliche, but i think it could work.
As for characters:
Ace (Cat) - Main character. Searching for Emma to get some answers. Balanced stats, like any main character.(Claws)
Kara (Fairy) - Forest fairy that is helping Ace search for Emma because he helped the town elder. Healer of the group. (Staves)
Lewis (Goblin) - Leader of the goblin thugs. Joins Ace because he finds him more powerful than his pitiful lackeys. Physical character. Not much magic. (Shoes)
Emma (Human) - Mysterious Witch that turned Ace into a cat to hide him from the king. Black mage type character. (Knives)
Mitch (Human) - Knight captain. Given duties by the king. Obeys without questions. Another balanced character. (Spears)
Bob (Monkey) - A formidable swordsman. He is able to speak and fight due to Emma's magic. Fights with physical and magic attacks. (Swords)
Sticky (Name is more of an inside joke with friends =P) (Dragon) - The dragon that has been terrorizing the town. Pledges life to Mitch if Mitch can help him find the one that turned him into a dragon. He used to be human. Another black mage type, but also very strong. (Orbs. Give him his power.)
Lauren (Human) - The thief that is ransacking the town. When she is caught by Mitch, she is Given two options by the king. Execution, or eternal service to him. She chooses the service. Speed type. Has a high critical chance and agility. (Stars)
Optional characters. There are two:
John (Human) - The king that is spoken of most of the game. Later on you are given a choice to kill him or let him join the party. Very Powerful character. not much magic but can hit hard. (Axes)
Ariel (Dark Angel) - A guardian of the dark realm. She offers her services to you because of your power. You can kill her or let her join. A cross between a white and black mage. also a decent fighter. (Scythes)
