    Seriously...

How can you tell if you bought a legal version of the PC RPG Makers? I got XP several years ago when I was in college, and I got it off of Gamespot if I remember right. I'm sure it's a legitimate copy, but I had some problems with it a while ago.

There are two possibilities for the problems:
    1. It was an early release that had not been fully patched and required a patch for something involving the gold system I think...I'm not sure.
    2. I accidently bought a pirated version...which means that I'd have to go out and buy a legal one cause I don't like playing with illegal software.

    Any help on this?

Valk will have to answer this one, Im not too sure...did you buy it on a disc or download the full version? If you bought it on a disc then its illegal, as if I remember correctly, XP is a download only title.

Even if it was a download, I think the official site(is it Agetec or Enterbrain or neither?) would be the only one allowed to host a full download for it.

Also, how much did you buy it for?

Thats the price it goes for, can you find the link you used if it still exists?

          that's the legal version.

several sites hosted the trial (the pavilion almost did it too), which was then upgraded to the full version through a link in the software itself.

Sweet. Thank you. I just wanted to confirm that I had the legal version because of the problems that I had some time ago. I was poking around and saw that some of you knew how to tell so I figured that I'd ask.
