A RELIGION TOPIC. Like... about Jesus.

So I found this essay the other day. It's the most succinct and logical Christian progression of rationale and thought I've ever seen. It ALMOST makes sense. From an Agnostic viewpoint, the basic question of "if something like God exists, where did it come from?" still eludes me, and always will, but for people who have no issue taking on faith that God is the creator of our Universe, this is a VERY challenging read towards acceptance of Christianity.

Just thought the inimitable Pavilion would appreciate another good religious topic.

There's no going back now, Rick.

    You've changed things.

    Forever.

Not really trying to convert people. Hell, I'm full-on Agnostic these days, but I can appreciate the logical progression shown here. Taken in this light, it provides a much deeper meaning to the whole Christian ideology than I've ever thought it had before.

Plus I want someone to flame someone else in my topic.

It may be a step forward. But at the end of the day. They still want to torch the gays.

It's hard not to read any scientific journal, magazine, science fiction, or anything at all relative to the future of the human race (save perhaps diehard conservative Creationists) without getting spoonfed all the stuff that article just talked about.

It's all very sensible. In a purely scientific, neurobiological way, it's the new Manifest Destiny of the human psyche: to finish mapping the brain, destroy the soul once and for all, and trudge forward on the shoulders of the previous generation of our species whose sole purpose is to know everything it can possibly know, and claim ownership of that knowledge. The arrogant future. The selfish, self-serving future where we're the way we are because we have to be, because there's no other way for us to be in a world where God doesn't exist, in a world where Man IS the top, by his own means.

It's sensible, it's logical, there's a rational basis for the claims. I can see it and agree with it more readily than the essay I started this topic with.

But it fills me with nothing but dread and sadness.

                Why?

If a technological feat is possible, man will do it. Almost as if it's wired into the core of our being.

I'm excited for the technology. For the knowledge. I don't want to live in a caveman society where omens are in the sky and souls are defeatable.

But all the things I enjoy most are worthless in a world where every human attribute is researched, catalogued, filed away and explained away. Why would we need any of it in a world like that? And WHY would we want to live in that world?

I ascribe my personal beliefs in such a backwards, romantic aspect that I want things to change and progress, but I don't want to lose any of the things that I feel make us, as humans, US. It's confusing. And annoying. But I don't think I'm capable of thinking differently, such as it is, whether by upbringing / environment or by my very genetic code, or by the conscious forward motion of changing who I am to believe in such a world.

                      1) Science will never explain the ultimate beginning; All things require origin. No matter how far back you go at some point something had to have come from nothing. Making something out of nothing is the domain of magic or faith.

                      2) Until such time as man is made immortal we will have to deal with what happens after death. It could be that everything is possible. Those who believe there is nothing and we simply die may have their wish granted. For those who cannot accept that conclusion the journey begins.

                      3) The journey can lead to many places, but it must begin by acknowledging you have no right to say something is or is not or to speak with no reasoning. When the profane speak all they really say is they are not on the journey.

                      4) Its called occult science for a reason. The ancients did not divide science from religion, they invoked by the stars, planets, and names of angels to achieve tangible results and some still do today. Those who cannot believe in the good must first see the evil. Sometimes a step backwards is needed to leap forward. On the ladder of lights those who practice magick rank higher then someone who believes in nothing. At least they can progress.

                      5) It is evil to say "I am saved, the rest of you are damned" or to kill one another over Gods name. Those who love others enough to seek an answer that includes everyone with a good heart are beyond this. Religion teaches morality, but it is moral to only believe what is proven. This would be a paradox, but knowing God in ones heart was the true purpose all along.

                      6) Mystery School divides itself into the black school and the white school based on attitude about the world and the great work. The black school includes Christianity, Satanism, Buddhism, and anything that emphasizes sorrow or predicts apocalypse. The white school represents newage spirituality that is centered around positive energy, love, and global unity. Ones attitude about the world is a good place to start.

It is by this axiom those who share secrets are punished by the those who merely reveal they have not studied, not undertaken any spiritual journey, and have no respect for those that do. In the old days their punishment would include torture or burning at the stake, but today insults are sufficient.
