      AHAHAHA

As usual the software sales don't surprise me, even with Too Human being on there. Games I've typically have no interest in seem to make it on the top, and games that don't belong certainly make their way there.

PSP outselling the X-Box 360, PS3, and the antiquated PS2 is like we're in BIZARRO World. It seems like people are buying the systems just fine, just ignoring the software. Probably why Sony keeps re-releasing the system with bundles, different colors, and slight upgrades along the way. They gotta make up for the profit lost to pirates somewhere along the way.

          My gawd.

Wii play is a friggin beast to still be in the top ten.

I can only imagine what Nintendo could have done if they sold an actual game with a free wiimote.

Which is a shame because the developers lose out, not Sony.

Not really... because I'm sure Wii Play didn't cost Nintendo that much money to develop/license. It's pure profit, and Wii Play caters to the "casual" crowd.

Yeah, but I mean in terms of like, starting a new franchise or somthing not in terms of profit.

                    Re: August NDP Numbers

Well, they might just BE starting a new franchise. Aren't they gonna bundle the "We did not include all the functionality and possibility of the Wiimote right off the bat in order to sell an add-on a few years later to keep the Wii demand at a fever pitch, with the promise that it'll take your Wii gaming to a whole new level by being so much more responsive, because the gyroscope or whatever makes the Wiimote SO much more precise" device with Wii Play 2?

I should make a new cash cow avatar using an image of the Wiimote.

And silly RD, why in god's name would Nintendo willingly bundle an actual GOOD game with something people are gonna buy anyway because Nintendo seems to make finding stand-alone Wiimotes ALMOST as hard as finding the system itself, Wii Fit, and Mario Kart? Nintendo knows what they are doing. They know people will spend money on a good game, whereas if Wii Play was a stand-alone game, even for $20, it would have NOWHERE near the staying power it currently does. As has been mentioned previously in these forums, Nintendo packages it as a game with a "bonus" Wiimote in order to prop up their software numbers. Investors and analysts look at software sales and attach rate MUCH more closely than accessory numbers. And I've a feeling that Wii Play alone is attached to Wii sales (either at point of sale, or at another point within the first few months) at a 70-75% rate. Which is unheard of.

And yeah, I have no room to talk, because I bought damn Wii Play. Let's just say Nintendo learned from their mistakes the past two generations, and has become extremely savvy in their marketing, while still giving the consumer what they (Nintendo) think they (the consumer) want.

Actually, it's Wii Sports Resort. Though, couldn't we say Sports and Play are in the same franchise?

The industry growth is considerably low in comparison, but it's still healthy!

It does carry the distinction of being the first game of its genre (hack n' slash RPG, right?) to be in a top ten list of any kind (At least to my knowledge).

I wonder how many copies will be returned by people who thought it would be Gears of War with swords.

It's also interesting to me that Madden for Wii is so far behind all the other versions. It says a lot about both the Wii's audience and the public's view of the system.

Wii Sports and other Nintendo made games used it just fine. Other people just were too stupid to know how to use it, thus they made a device to make it easier for them. It was more needed than planned.

And I was just saying if they released a good game for it imagine how they could have shot off another Mario or Pokemon franchise.
