Hey, this video game track sounds like something else!

    I have always thought:

"The Trial" from Chrono Trigger sounds vaguely like "the Trial" by Pink Floyd.

The beginning of "Hey You!" by Pink Floyd sounds like the Guardia Forest 600 AD theme from Chrono Trigger.

Blackberry thinks the Shinra theme from FF7 sounds like the Running Man theme.

    ......

I'm interested in any others everyone has noticed.
    Lil' Bean is here!

My sister's been playing Chocobo's Dungeon for Wii...

You'd love it. It's all remixed FFVIII stuff.
And the main town theme bares similarities to OoT's Song of Storms.
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

Check the sound track for Doom and Doom 2 and you get plenty of songs.

Also for the battletoads vs Doubledragon theme song. Sound a lot like Duran Durans Girls on film guitar riff.
Find a dog, honk it's nose. If you are bothered by this sentence. I guess you're just not cool enough for the noses.

That one song in Madden 2006 sounds almost JUST LIKE that one rap song.

"Alone in the town" from the Silent Hill 2 OST sounds a little like the opening theme of Twin Peaks. They pay homage to the series in other ways.

The music you hear in the actual town throughout most of the game is similar to track 10 (aka "Tree") from Aphex Twin's "selected ambient works vol 2."

I know it sounds crazy but I'd swear I've heard 95% of the songs in Guitar Hero before.

Somebody brought one of these up in another topic. I can't remember who or what.

These are the Doom 1 / Doom 2 + Metal ripoffs, its pretty interesting. Some of them are spot on.

                    http://www.doomworld.com/linguica/doomcovers/

IRC, are you talking about the Metal Gear Solid theme song being that one obscure russian song?

                    OH!

A really crazy one (until I heard the full story) was I found was when I randomly heard this song:
                    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdNh9f2Wwm0

I was like "wtf that sounds like that song from wild arms" http://208.53.158.138/soundtracks/wi...y-s-theme-.mp3

But then I learned it was based off it...So it wasn't as cool and random

Though it's not a rip off. Syncronicity II sounds an awful lot like megaman music.

As does the Guitar solo in ...and justice for all (at least the beginning)

It's hardly "complete". The basic melodies sound similar but the songs are different in like every other way.

A really crazy one (until I heard the full story) was I found was when I randomly heard this song:

HOLY ****, someone used that song in a film movie and I was like, "That was awesome where did you get that sweet Wild Arms song."

They really drive it home in the Alter Code F version.

Alzar, the doom music guy was given all these heavy metal songs by John Romero to work with for the soundtrack, he was also a lawyer so he knew how much of the songs he could use within legal limits.

                              Or so I've read somewhere.

Speaking of FFVII, I don't know why but whenever I hear this song from the pumpkins, naturally, the first thing that comes to mind is the desert prison.
