    Pavilion RPG

I don’t know if the this is feasible or not, but I have an idea for a Pavilion RPG. It goes something like this. The RPG would involve the forum as a whole. The game would incorporate items you can buy with points obtained with posts. The more you post, the more points you obtain, and you are able use these points to buy items. In addition, you can earn more points by saying certain words, and you couldn’t just spam “special words” either, as they change each time you post. Members have a set amount of HP to start out with, and you can increase your HP by either buying items that increase your HP, or gaining experience points with kill counts. Kill counts are gained by reducing a members HP to zero. When your HP reaches zero, one of your items (if you have any) and some of your points are lost, and are then transferred to the victor. If you are killed, you are simply restarted with full HP, but with fewer points to buy items with, and you are invulnerable for a certain amount of time so as other people couldn’t attack you constantly. Items would range from healing potions, to weapons and armor that would slowly break with each use. At the end of each month kill counts are tallied up and the person with the most kill counts is rewarded in some fashion, maybe something like a medal below the avatar or something. At the start of the month, experience and levels gained are reseted so people don’t become overpowered and impossible to defeat. This would also allow newly registered member to have a chance. Past feats wouldn’t go unrecognized either, as a board would record kill counts and whatever else that would be recorded.

I know that the game isn’t perfect, and probably isn’t feasible, but maybe you could look it over and decide. If this were even considered, it would take a community effort to improve the game, because as it is right now it is definitely not perfect.

So what exactly do you do in order to...battle...or adventure? Do you post about it? Is this role-playing?

My strong first reaction is that it won't catch on enough to make it worthwhile, but that's not to say it's not worth trying. I know this for sure as hell, though--I'm not gonna run this thing.

Man, I forgot to mention that!

To battle someone, you go into their profile and there will be an option to "attack". You can only attack that person so many times. I'm not sure how many time you are allowed to attack though, I didn't exactly think about this. I'll think up something eventually, but by that time this whole thing will said no to.

It would be for the Pavilion. Meaning, this forum would be the playing ground for it.

I can understand why you'd say no, Valk. I'd be a huge undertaking and a mess to program. Oh, well....

And the site suggestions forum is more appropriate than the RPG Maker forum?

he doesnt want to do this with RPG Maker.

he wants me to mod the site to do it with the forum itself.

                  which I will never do.

                          Re: Pavilion RPG

"Forum Battles" take place with opposing arguments about stuff.

Other then that, I have 10 years experience as a DM and sometimes I do quest sessions over Aim.

But on the forums themselves? Nah I can't really see that. lol the idea is like someone who tries pot for the first time and wants to turn everything he sees into a bong.

                            Re: Pavilion RPG

I will play the part of NPC where all my replies are

                            "Welcome to the pavilion."

                            or

"My families is cooking soup for today"

But I don't think this could even work out. Nor would it be entertainment. But I like to see peoples minds working. I give Navane an A++

                              Re: Pavilion RPG

It would be way too much of an effort (and would detract from the focus of the site) if we hard-coded the game into the site. That much is a bad idea.

I still think there's a *chance* it could work (even if I'm still leaning no) if someone were willing to run the thing like you see in a lot of Role-Playing sub-forums out there. You know, check everyone's post count, post the status and health of the players, etc. But you'd need someone in charge who was very, very dedicated to it.

Like I said, as of now I don't see it working, but I do think it's worth it to keep posting ideas about this and see if anything good comes out of it.
