Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

I bought a copy on-line a while back, and it was a little scratched up. Kind of sucks.

There are noticeable "freezes" or lag when I play the game though. Was this normal? I really can't remember it's been so long since I originally played it. Is it because my disc is scratched?

I don't remember any lag happening when I played. But I'm not completely sure...

But the game was good! Lots of green...

It's noticeable when I enter "new" areas. Like when I go from the starting point to the warp room, for example.

Does sound like a bad copy. I remember beating it and being all "what the hell?" with the edn because I could never beat it until my 5th try and felt disappointed.

nah, thats actually normal. i ran into that too because its just the way the game was designed since you never find any loading times, the only thing you will notice is some minor lag in between areas or warp rooms because otherwise is streaming and loading as you go along.

im pretty sure this occurs in both the dreamcast and playstation version.

I never noticed any lag. I've got the Eidos collector's edition one though, no idea if it makes the slightest difference.

I remember playing the demo on the same disc as the MGS demo and that demo was a lot better. :V

The game randomly freezes because it was one of the few playstation games (only one I think) that used constant streaming (have you played Metroid Prime? That one elevator still gives me nightmares). You can't avoid this but your scratched disc might make it worse.
