    PSP-3000

The new PSP will retain the same size and weight of the current PSP, but it will have a built-in microphone and a high-quality LCD screen. They are very happy to report that this new screen will have a response time that is twice as fast as the current PSP, therefore, eliminating the terrible afterimages such as ghosting & color bleeding.

Furthermore, the color and the contrast ratio of the screen have been greatly improved. Moreover, the PSP will be initially sold in 3 color variations: Piano Black, Pearl White, and Mystic Silver.

The only question on my mind is: will it be hackable?

It'd be a pretty stupid move for Sony to re-release another PSP unless it was geared towards it being unhackable. But then again, the Slim was supposed to be unhackable too, but it only took Dark AleX a couple of months.

Unless Sony uses a completely different firmware that's incompatible with the other versions and they build a specific battery just for the device then yes, it will be hackable.

I give the homebrew community 24 hours. That may be a little too lax.

I thought the new Sony batteries WERE unhackable. And I certainly wouldn't put it past Sony to make batteries from previous generations entirely incompatible with this version.

My first generation PSP just can't keep up. He's going in for a prostate exam this week.

            But not worth another $170.

                this is bull****.

third hardware feature revision in the system's short life. the slim came out september of last year, so this ****** me off quite a bit. so just about a year after the PSP slim came out, they pull this. ****ing unbelievable. the new screen looks great, which makes me wonder what features will they add NEXT year to make the owners of this new system feel terrible?

and they still do NOTHING to protect the screen, something nintendo has been doing since the GBA SP.

                    LOL

I got the second model PSP for Magus' birthday just two months ago.

                    Thank you, Dony.

                    edit: I meant "Sony"

Was anyone really looking at their PSPs and saying to themselves "THIS SCREEN SUCKS"? If not, then you'll do just fine. :3

I know that I'm going to get one. If the answer to my above question is Yes. The glare outside makes it nigh unplayable while the glare when I have sunlight in my room is even more annoying. The thing is only meant to be played indoors with with artificial lighting. Hopefully this will fix it, and hopefully the battery will last longer like they promised the Slim's would (nobody plays on the dimmest backlight setting).

But REALLY. I just ****ing bought the brand new PSP Slim less than a year ago.

(The built-in mic for going to be for Skype--something I never use. Games won't be able to expand upon that unless they brand the game as "for PSP-3000 series only"--which ain't gonna happen)

there is no way that new screen will improve battery life. it's gonna hurt it even more.

if it's compatable, just get that extended life battery thing sony sells. the slim gets about 12 hours of play with it.

you mean that huge brick that makes your psp look weird?

i bought a spare battery a while back for the slim and it seems to last the same as the one that came with it. unless there's another, hidden battery out there.

I got sony's extended battery kit thing for the slim PSP, and I get 12 hours unless I have wi-fi on. the battery that came with the PSP slim only got, like, 4 hours.

sony's battery thing is not a huge brick.
