okay i'm actually going to finish a game this time....i think

hi as you can tell by the join date, i used to post here a lot but i'm always like ahhhhh this game is sooo limitted and try rpgm2 and say ahhhh thi gammm is sooo complicatttted and quit altogether (I can't find my copy of rpm1...ah the good old days)

anyway, I've decided to try my best to work around rpgm3's limitations, and I've made much more progress than I've ever made in the past. So i think I might actually get something done heh.

Has anyone come up with a way to make battles more interesting?

Usually its by making strange combinations of abilities in monsters, or coming up with imaginative ways to govern people's use of abilities.

For instance, some have made spells to be guns and mana restoring items be referred to as ammo.

Some have made a boss that has lots of mana, but very little health, the mana shield ability, and a spell that sacrifices 1 hp to fully restore mana. Such battles become very tricky indeed

Look for a stickied thread at the top of the RM3 forum called "Tricks to spice up your game"

What is this "mana" you speak of?

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

        1) A very WIDE variety of enemies, and enemy parties.
        2) Give as many skills as you can to the enemies, so that they aren't just doing the same things over and over.
        3) Lots of enemy drops! 1-2 common, a slightly rare one, and a very rare one is one way to do it, or a variation thereof.

There are lots of other ways to spruce the battles up that require a bit of imagination and work, but can be well worth it.

I'd add dungeon puzzles to your battles to make them more interesting. Or, limit battles! If your not fighting enemies every other step you aren't gaining levels every time you turn around and your inventory isn't bogged down with tons of useless junk...

Personally, and I hate to say this, I like dungeon puzzles. I mean, I hate dungeon puzzles, but with RM3 being the way it is they don't seem impossible. Start small, and make them bigger and more complicated as time goes on, and maybe even have the townsfolk dole out hints.
