    excessive ads and anoying salesmen

recently the constant barage of phone calls and junk mail have reached feavered pitch, with some companies trying everything in their power to snag a new customer. even after you say no to all these people they call back later on, perhaps a week later, maybe a month later. some of the worst offenders tend to be companies that you are already paying for services with, companies such as your phone, bank, or even school. how much is too much? at what point does it frusterate you and make you wish not to deal with the company ever again? should they even be able to phone you to try to sell you something?

what worse is that there is so many scams out there these days. just today i read in the paper about a scam involving a ligitimate charity where some idiot was using it to steal credit card information. though i wouldnt give my numbers or money out to some random guy over the phone i fear for people like my grandparents who constantly recive calls with bogus trip offers and other such nonsense.

    share your experiences.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

    "Hi it's Vince with ShamWOW!"

"This is for the house, the car. A regular towel doesn't work wet. This works wet, or dry."

"Holds twenty times it's weight in liquid. Cuts the job in half. Doesn't drip, doesn't make a mess, ring it out."

"You wash it in the washing machine."

"Here's some cola... wine, coffee, pet stains. Not only is the damage going to be on top. There's your mildew, that is going to smell."

"Look at this. Put it on the spill, turn it over. Without putting any pressure. 50% of the cola, right there."

"You following this camera guy? The other 50% -- the color. starts to come up. No other towels going to do that."

"It acts like a vacuum. Look at this, virtually dry on top."

"You're gonna spent 20 dollars a month on paper towels anyway."

"The mini ShamWOWs are for everyday use. You'll get four ShamWOWs for 19.95."

    "You call now--"

"We'll give ya' a second set, absolutely free. So that's 8 ShamWOWs for 19.95. Comes with a ten year warranty."

    "Here's how to order."

I always loved the guy (this might be before MOST Pavvies' time) who had an infomercial that constantly played, and was like, "You can make thousands and thousands of dollars from your one bedroom apartment. I'LL SHOW YOU HOW!!!!!!"

I get more calls on my cell phone then I do my house phone, I politely remind them that federal law prohibits telemarketers calling cell phones and if they call again Ill report them to the FCC. :3

I usually report them to the FCC anyways on the first offense to make sure they dont call again.

They had this thing going on a few years ago where the government was going to let telemarketers call cell phones but it got turned down because telemarketers calling cell phones with limited minutes is considered "theft" in the sense that they are "stealing" minutes people pay for since the calls are unwanted.

              "Um.. hello?"

"Hi, this is [hot name] from Comcast, would you like our cable/phone/interwebs service for just 129.99 a mo.?"

"You're stupid. You're calling a phone ON YOUR NETWORK, don't you think I would have the service already? Your name and voice are hot, but you're really stupid. Call me again and I'll hack your bank account, ya n00b."
