    Would this work?

I have to get started on my summer projects so i really don't have too much time to type, but do you guys think it would be possible for me to create a conquest game using the RPGM3 software? I wanted to focus on variables representing gold, troop numbers and upgradeable troop stats, and of course what teritories belong to you. I was also going to put in fictional and historical leaders who may or may not pledge alliegence to you based on your actions. Exploration and role playing inside of your castle would be handled by you the ruler and possibly other characters while exploration would be handled mostly by scouts and diplomats. Outside of waging war I was also thinking of having multiple sub plots that bring some of your citizens closer to home, negotiations with enemy nations and of the ability to change the economy (ex. if you need to procure many more weapons for your army you may lower the cost of weapons and other goods, but this may lead to economical problems later on). If I had enough space left over I even wanted to tamper with creating and placing territories and expansion in territories by gaining more citizens, shops houses, luxury buildings etc.

Somebody else was working on something similar to this, I'm not sure what kind of progress they have made.

    I think it was Perversion.

I know its possible, Ive thought up the idea before, but theres no way of making AI opponents, so it would have to be multi-player.

I was thinking of setting up events that seem to come into the game naturaly (possibly by a varible>,<,=) or a pseudo random generator. Hmmm, I'll have to think of how to make realistic enemy groups.

That and there would be very little to no actual fighting going on between characters. On the one hand, you could make playable characters like "generals" or something (ala Dynasty Warriors) and fight opposing generals, but again, this seems to detract from the Civilazation /Lords of the Relm/Warcraft feel that your game seems to want to have.

And I would be remiss if I didn't encourage you to look at the other RPGMakers (most notably RM2) as RM3 has a lot of good things that it can do, but a lot of better things that it cannot do, no matter how much you beg/plead/lie/steal/pray to your spiritual leader that it can.

Yeah, I've been looking at some of the threads there and I think that I can do what I want with this game by using No. 2. Thanks for the reccomendation.

Let me put it simply: this would require too much code for RM3; I think I have an idea of what you want to pull off, and not only is 3 going to give you a lot of frustration, but at the end of the day you're going to run into the DU limit before you're even halfway through.

Use RM2 instead. It's a lot of work to get the hang of, but if you're actually going to make a project like this, then the learning curve will be the least of the work you've got ahead of you.

By the way, if you do manage to create a fun game that's anything like what you've described (to my knowledge, no one has gotten that close), you will have a VERY devoted fanbase behind your work. Good luck!
