Questions about the Wii. Plus, post your code so I can has FRIENNNNDDDSSS!

So, yeah. I broke down and bought one this past Sunday. Of course, it comes with Wii Sports (which I've not touched yet), and of course, I was forced to buy Wii Play, as Nintendo makes finding standalone Wiimotes difficult in order to sell more "games," so I've got those two.

As of now, my collection consists of No More Heroes, Endless Ocean, Geometry Wars Galaxies, Zack and Wiki, Elebits, and Blast Factor. I also downloaded FFCC:MLAAK the day I unpacked my system, and am enjoying it so far.

So, the question is, what other retail games, WiiWare games, and Virtual console games would my fellow Pavvies recommend?

So far, none of the other WiiWare stuff looks that interesting, and for the VC, I'll probably get Super Metroid, as I've never played it, and Baseball Stars 2 for the Neo Geo, as I played the HELL out of the NES Baseball Stars. I just hope there's a way to make another all-female team. (Yes, that smilie was on purpose).

Last two questions for the time being...assuming I don't break down and buy a laptop, is the Opera browser worth the 500 points? Right now, I'm using my PS3 almost exclusively to browse the web, and on my 1080p TV, the text and whatnot looks phenomenally clear, but I HATE HATE HATE that there is no copy/paste feature, and that almost all streaming websites besides Youtube are not supported by the PS3's version of Flash player. So, does the Opera browser allow you to copy/paste, and will it allow streaming sites that the PS3's web interface does not? Although I'm guessing, even with the component cables, which will only allow 480p, it'll look a LOT worse than I'm used to using the PS3.

Second question: I bought the component cable hookup for the Wii, but have not opened the package yet. On a 1080p 65" TV, will I even notice a difference going from interlaced to progressive, seeing as how the initial resolution is of such poor quality anyway?

    Thanks in advance, guys.

Okay...allow me to rephrase....can anyone recommend any retail games that are not either A) Full-price $50 games, or B) The obvious choices (Zelda, RE, Mario, Metroid, etc).

I'm really looking for suggestions on kinda under-the-radar type games, for which I MIGHT not mind paying full price.

Yeah, you pretty much own the Wii's entire library.

Funny thing Valk....I've looked at and contemplated getting almost all of the ones you just mentioned. But Trauma Center and Fire Emblem are both full price at my work (and of course, nobody buys either of them), so I think I'm gonna wait a bit on those two. Because how it usually works at my job is, on VERY rare occasions, we'll get in a few copies of some under-the-radar games like those, nobody will buy them because NOBODY goes into Sears looking for those type of games, and they'll just sit there and languish until we have a price drop. Then eventually, they'll go to closeout for between $7-$15, and THEN I'll snatch them up.

For some odd reason, we got a few copies of Persona 3 (the limited version) in a while back, and they sat there until two guys who actually knew something about games came in and bought them, which kinda p***ed me off, as I was waiting for the inevitable price drop. Luckily, though, one of them returned his copy a few days later, so I grabbed it then. We also currently have the FES version of Persona 3, Jeanne d' Arc, Trauma Center for the Wii, and R-Type Command in stock. Why in god's name we're actually getting Atlus stuff in our store is beyond me, but you won't see me complaining.

IMO the Opera browser sucks, you cant watch videos of any kind because you need to download the software for it, and none of the media sites supports Wii (flash, quicktime, etc...).

So basically all you get is a browser that can show pics and websites and if you have to type anything it goes to a separate screen where its a keyboard on the screen and you have to type it in using your wiimote.

IMO it wasnt worth the $5 to me, the benefit of being able to sit on the couch and browse the net with one hand isnt worth the restrictions it has.

Unless, of course, theres support for Opera elsewhere that allows the Wii to play videos, then it would be worth it.

my friend bought Boom Blox last week and it was still $50. however, I also bought it at $50 and thought it was worth it.

I bought Chocobo's Dungeon couple of weeks ago, I thought it was definetely worth the $40 (if you love dungeon crawlers).

It supports USB keyboards, you know.

and when the browser launched, it did work with youtube and other video sites. wiitube.com was a portal that let you browse youtube with a special interface that made it easy to do on any TV, no matter the resolution or screen size.

if it doesnt still work, that's news to me. I deleted the browser well over a year ago.

I was debating on whether to edit that because I figured if anyone would catch that, it would be you, but I didnt expect you to catch it.

Thats NOT what I was meaning when I said that.

RE: Umbrella Chronicles isn't terrible if you're looking for a rail shooter.

I'm sure that it's already went down in price and if it hasn't it will soon.

I'm currenly going to wait for Boom Blox and Fire Emblem to go down in price because I can wait and I know they'll be cheaper within a year or so and I can wait. I'm probably going to buy Chocobo Dungeon next time I get the impulse to buy a videogame. Either that or another DS *punch to the gut*.

I really want to try out My Sims, but it's still kinda expensive.

I will admit, I haven't bought a game for my Wii for a while.

Opera Browser was worth it when it was free. I don't know if it's worth it now unless you like surfing the web knowing that you are almost completely safe from any viruses, spyware, etc. It only has Flash 7 because adobe doesn't want to make a current SDK, some websites are made specifically with the Wii in mind including some gaming and media websites.

However when I didn't have a computer last summer my Wii was my only way to the internet, I got pretty good with wiimote typing too (twas before USB compatability).
