    game idea

i have been working on my game for a while. my new idea for it is that you would start in an area called gathering point. here you you will be able to select what mode you can play. for example here you can go to the storyline were you unlock the characters you can play as, the battle arena were you can battle the character you have unlocked in the story, the shopping center were you can buy upgrades for you characters and finally the explore mode were you can explore areas you opened in the story mode.
and this is how the characters can be upgraded
one you dont gain exp after battle in stend status go up with itmes that you equip.
and the class that each character has is for what type of weopans and armor they have example speed light wieght weapons power and energy. than master these characters can equip from every class type.
i wanted to know how does this sound?

Hey, It looks good to me. How do you plan to get these weapons? Is there a currency? Or are weapons awarded for winning battles. Just a note of warning, I can read this because I once had bad grammar like you. I strongly suggest that you clean up your grammar, because other members of the Pavilion won't post on or, even look at your threads.

I see.Do you get money after stroy-lined battles? Or fighting in this Colliseum/Battle Arena? Does the game have a plot or is it just fighting for the purpose of getting better in the Arena. How are characters unlocked? Its hard to buy upgrades because it has to be an event, For example : Strength upgrade +10 10,000g. Even if you have no money you can still get the upgrade. If you use Obright's acumulated money trick, it would work. I can't find the thread but I will let you know if I do. Found it here ya go.

How to Track Gold from Random Encounters - by Obright

1 - Select a variable to be your 'gold' variable.
2 - Select a battle PARTY that you've already made, and make a note of the amount of gold the party drops upon defeat.
3 - Make a treasure item (we'll call it the 'Red Coin Pouch' just for example).
4 - Set the enemy party in question to drop the red coin pouch ALWAYS.
5 - Create an invisible event that:

          A) Requires the red coin pouch to activate, and set it to auto-run,
          B) Increases the gold variable by the same amount that the party drops, and
          C) Removes the red coin pouch treasure item.

6 - Place this invisible auto event in the area(s) where the enemy party is encountered.

DO NOT use any 'display OFF' codes! Once the treasure is removed, the event will 'reset' without triggering any loop traps.

Now...when you defeat the battle party, it will drop the red coin pouch. The auto event detects it, runs the scripts (including the variable increase), removes the coin pouch, and resets itself for the next encounter.

yes there is a story to my game. you'll see when i get it done. upgrades are done by equipment. and you unlock the characters you can use in the arena by playing in the story mode.

              Re: game idea

I like the idea of having the hub based world, i thought about using it myself a few times. Other things you may consider adding would be hunts, (like FF12) where a person places a bounty on a creature and you can go out and try and find it.

Also if you plan on having a bunch of characters that you can swap out at will, you might want to plan ahead on how you want to do this.

I dont know how new you are to making RPG's but let me give you a hint, PLAN AHEAD. You seem to have a basic concept down but make sure you plan out things in advanced or your game will come to a halt real quick, trust me.

Best of luck to you and I look forward to hearing more about this project.

TBS is coming shortly... I finally got off my lazy self and contacted Datel, so new Max Drive software is coming thus allowing me to release my TBS.

What type of classes are you going to put in the game?

Are they going to be all weapon based or are you going to have classes that specialize in magic?

Well, I was thinking it as soon as I got through the first post, but madcopper said it first. I am reminded strongly of the Final Fantasys. In a number of the FF games you had characters who either didn't level up, or didn't gain stats upon leveling up, and the main idea was to get/find/buy upgrades that boosted either stats or the actual weaponry itself, to the point where it became either useful/better/whatever.

I'm not saying that this is bad, but with the limited information that you have posted so far its hard to see your game stand out from the pack.

                  Also, welcome to the Pav!
