    Song Lyrics

For a lot of people, the music you listen to along with their lyrics reveals a lot about your life and personality, so post lyrics to a song that connects to you and tell why it does, a link to listen to the song would also be helpful.

    P.O.D. Thinking About Forever

Time goes by and God knows I try to carry on with life
Decide not to hide feelings inside, even though they hurt
Sometimes, I forget to remember you
It’s easy to lock away the pains,
don’t want to relive it through
But I stay strong, you taught me

how to move on in this world
I married my sweetheart, even got
    a little baby girl
I wish you could see her, I swear
    she looks just like you
If you can hear me, show me a
sign, please send her a butterfly or two

    (Chorus: )
I’m thinking about forever (missing you)
I know you’re so much better (we made it through)

Now I know what it means to live for someone else
    To give up yourself
Things have changed, at times it gets kind of strange
    Your love remains the same
Do I make you proud? Mama, can you see me now?
Whatever is good in me is because you showed
me how to take love by the hand
And so now I can share you with my baby
    So that she can understand

    (Chorus)

I’m thinking about forever (missing you)
I know you’re so much better (we made it through)
I’m thinking about forever (missing you)
I’m tripping on whatever (hearing you)
This song has a lot of meaning to me because my dad was in the Navy most of my childhood and teenage life, which meant my mom was always around and I grew especially close to her. Now shes getting close to her 60's and she has all of these health issues going on and we honestly have no idea how much longer she has left...and it honestly scares me to death knowing one day I'll get a call saying she's not here anymore, but its not really that that scares me, its knowing Im 250 miles away from her and more then likely I won't be there to tell her goodbye.

And some good advice for a lot of you teenagers(and adults alike) going through that "I hate them" phase, let it go...once they're gone, there's no saying "I'm sorry", and it could happen any time, they would have died thinking you hate them...is that really what you want their last thoughts to be?

Sorry this explaination is a little longer then I intended and I put a lot of personal thoughts out that Ive kept inside for years, so please, for my sake, don't joke about anything I just said.

    Guided by Voices-Motor Away

When you motor away beyond the once-red lips
When you free yourself from the chance of a lifetime
You can be anyone they told you to
You can belittle every little voice that told you so
And then the time will come when you add up the numbers
And then the time will come
    When you motor away
Oh why don't you just drive away?

When you motor away down the icy streets
You can't lie to yourself that it's the chance of a lifetime
You can be anyone they told you to
Yo can belittle every little voice that told you so
And then the time will come when you add up the numbers
And then the time will come
    When you motor away
Oh why don't you just drive away?

    Come on.
    Speed on.

The song is here in a live version, along with a bunch of other rare tracks

      Re: Song Lyrics

Really don't mind if you sit this one out.
My words but a whisper -- your deafness a shout.
I may make you feel but I cant make you think.
Your sperms in the gutter -- your loves in the sink.
So you ride yourselves over the fields and
You make all your animal deals and
Your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.
And the sand-castle virtues are all swept away in
      The tidal destruction
      The moral melee.
The elastic retreat rings the close of play as the last wave uncovers
      The newfangled way.
But your new shoes are worn at the heels and
Your suntan does rapidly peel and
Your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

And the love that I feel is so far away:
Im a bad dream that I just had today -- and you
      Shake your head and
      Say its a shame.

Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth.
Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth.
Spin me down the long ages: let them sing the song.

See there! a son is born -- and we pronounce him fit to fight.
There are black-heads on his shoulders, and he pees himself in the night.
      Well
      Make a man of him
      Put him to trade
      Teach him
      To play monopoly and
      To sing in the rain.

The poet and the painter casting shadows on the water --
As the sun plays on the infantry returning from the sea.
The do-er and the thinker: no allowance for the other --
As the failing light illuminates the mercenarys creed.
The home fire burning: the kettle almost boiling --
But the master of the house is far away.
The horses stamping -- their warm breath clouding
In the sharp and frosty morning of the day.
And the poet lifts his pen while the soldier sheaths his sword.

And the youngest of the family is moving with authority.
Building castles by the sea, he dares the tardy tide to wash them all aside.

The cattle quietly grazing at the grass down by the river
Where the swelling mountain water moves onward to the sea:
The builder of the castles renews the age-old purpose
And contemplates the milking girl whose offer is his need.
The young men of the household have
      All gone into service and
Are not to be expected for a year.
The innocent young master -- thoughts moving ever faster --
Has formed the plan to change the man he seems.
And the poet sheaths his pen while the soldier lifts his sword.

And the oldest of the family is moving with authority.
Coming from across the sea, he challenges the son who puts him to the run.

      What do you do when
The old mans gone -- do you want to be him? and
Your real self sings the song.
Do you want to free him?
No one to help you get up steam --
And the whirlpool turns you `way off-beam.

      Later.
Ive come down from the upper class to mend your rotten ways.
My father was a man-of-power whom everyone obeyed.
So come on all you criminals!
Ive got to put you straight just like I did with my old man --
      Twenty years too late.
Your bread and waters going cold.
Your hair is too short and neat.
Ill judge you all and make damn sure that no-one judges me.

You curl your toes in fun as you smile at everyone -- you meet the stares.
Youre unaware that your doings arent done.
And you laugh most ruthlessly as you tell us what not to be.
But how are we supposed to see where we should run?
I see you shuffle in the courtroom with
Your rings upon your fingers and
      Your downy little sidies and
      Your silver-buckle shoes.
Playing at the hard case, you follow the example of the comic-paper idol
Who lets you bend the rules.

      So!
      Come on ye childhood heroes!
Wont you rise up from the pages of your comic-books
      Your super crooks
And show us all the way.
Well! make your will and testament. wont you?
      Join your local government.
      Well have superman for president
      Let robin save the day.

You put your bet on number one and it comes up every time.
The other kids have all backed down and they put you first in line.
And so you finally ask yourself just how big you are --
And take your place in a wiser world of bigger motor cars.
And you wonder who to call on.

So! where the hell was biggles when you needed him last saturday?
And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though?
They're all resting down in cornwall --
Writing up their memoirs for a paper-back edition
      Of the boy scout manual.

      Later.
See there! a man born -- and we pronounce him fit for peace.
There's a load lifted from his shoulders with the discovery of his disease.
      Well
      Take the child from him
      Put it to the test
      Teach it
      To be a wise man
      How to fool the rest.

      Quote
We will be geared to the average rather than the exceptional
      God is an overwhelming responsibility
We walked through the maternity ward and saw 218 babies wearing nylons
      Cats are on the upgrade
      Upgrade? hipgrave. oh, mac.

      Later
In the clear white circles of morning wonder,
I take my place with the lord of the hills.
And the blue-eyed soldiers stand slightly discoloured (in neat little rows)
      Sporting canvas frills.
With their jock-straps pinching, they slouch to attention,
While queueing for sarnies at the office canteen.
Saying -- hows your granny and
Good old ernie: he coughed up a tenner on a premium bond win.
The legends (worded in the ancient tribal hymn) lie cradled
      In the seagulls call.
And all the promises they made are ground beneath the sadists fall.
The poet and the wise man stand behind the gun,
And signal for the crack of dawn.
      Light the sun.

Do you believe in the day? do you?
Believe in the day! the dawn creation of the kings has begun.
Soft venus (lonely maiden) brings the ageless one.
Do you believe in the day?
The fading hero has returned to the night -- and fully pregnant with the day,
Wise men endorse the poets sight.
Do you believe in the day? do you? believe in the day!

Let me tell you the tales of your life of
Your love and the cut of the knife
      The tireless oppression
      The wisdom instilled
The desire to kill or be killed.
Let me sing of the losers who lie in the street as the last bus goes by.
The pavements are empty: the gutters run red -- while the fool
Toasts his God in the sky.

So come all ye young men who are building castles!
Kindly state the time of the year and join your voices in a hellish chorus.
Mark the precise nature of your fear.
Let me help you pick up your dead as the sins of the father are fed
      With
The blood of the fools and
The thoughts of the wise and
From the pan under your bed.
Let me make you a present of song as
The wise man breaks wind and is gone while
The fool with the hour-glass is cooking his goose and
      The nursery rhyme winds along.

So! come all ye young men who are building castles!
Kindly state the time of the year and join your voices in a hellish chorus.
Mark the precise nature of your fear.
See! the summer lightning casts its bolts upon you
And the hour of judgement draweth near.
      Would you be
The fool stood in his suit of armour or
The wiser man who rushes clear.
So! come on ye childhood heroes!
Wont your rise up from the pages of your comic-books
      Your super-crooks and
      Show us all the way.
Well! make your will and testament.
Wont you? join your local government.
      Well have superman for president
      Let robin save the day.
So! where the hell was biggles when you needed him last saturday?
And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you through?
Theyre all resting down in cornwall -- writing up their memoirs
For a paper-back edition of the boy scout manual.

      Of course
So you ride yourselves over the fields and
You make all your animal deals and
Your wise men dont know how it feels to be thick as a brick.
Thick as a Brick is probably one of the best prog rock songs ever.

I dont know why you put that in your sig Owl, must you always find some way to bug me? Do you find it funny? Even when I asked not to make a joke of my post you still do?

I didnt report your posts, nor did I request said posts to be deleted, so don't hold a grudge on me for that.

I didn't really think too much into it. I'd say like every tenth post of mine gets deleted without any explanation anyways. The main reason I come here is it gives me a reason to do fun things like that, otherwise I would just be here posting about the same crap I did when I was 15, that's so... insane, like unbalanced or something.
          ...
          Anyways, lighten up pwease.

I just find it funny that people (JPS) get so bothered by Owl's behavior. He's like an intellectual troll full of win and awesome, pinpointing specific people to harangue because he knows they're gonna react in a specific counter-productive way.

                Re: Song Lyrics

Last semester, I worked at the convenience store in the lobby of the biggest dorm on campus. I worked the Friday night shift, which ended at 2 a.m. I liked it because I didn't have to think very hard and ate whatever I wanted within reason. I also got to set the music for the store, and by extension most of the second floor lobby, via my laptop.

Of course, it was also about as sad as you'd expect a job at a convenience store would be. I spent all night selling overpriced junk food to barefoot underclassmen. I missed all sorts of parties and happenings. Every once in a while, a friend would stop by and say Hi, maybe even hang out for a bit, but then they'd be gone and I'd feel lonelier than if they hadn't shown up at all.

One night, as the lobby was deserted except for two security guys at the far end of the floor, as I was counting money and turning off the lights in the refrigerators, "One Day You'll Be There" by +/- started playing.
You're sailing through the air to nowhere
                The trajectory unclear
But it feels like it's somewhere

Don't really care if you land or you fall
Because it's not up to you
Don't you know that it should be?

Sign on the dotted line for an unlimited time
                But you still won't know

You feel a hundred feet tall
You see all the things that you could do
But they're not what you're doing

                Everyone knows where you stand
But you can never see it for yourself
Don't you know that you should be?

Sign on the dotted line for an unlimited time
                But you still won't know.
The last few lines aren't available online for some reaon, but I know the final one is, "One day you'll be there."

Then I walked home in the dark.

It doesnt bother me as much as you think, there was a few posts deleted in this topic and I didnt want Owl to get the idea that I reported them or requested them to get deleted.

But apparently he thought I did so he probably made that video out of spite because he thought it would bother me, which its not the video that bothers me, its that I specifically asked that no one make a joke out of my post and he did it anyways.

But apparently he thought I did so he probably made that video out of spite because he thought it would bother me, which its not the video that bothers me, its that I specifically asked that no one make a joke out of my post and he did it anyways.
Ah! I said that I didn't really think much of it, that my posts get deleted all the time and I never find out why. I really didn't think you reported me, number one because there would be nothing to report; and number two, there would be no reason to. I made that video way before all the posts in your topic got deleted. When I first posted it, it was in this topic and it got deleted.

Pat Benetar- Hell is for Children

They cry in the dark, so you cant see their tears
They hide in the light, so you cant see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child
                        Because hell
                        Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
                        Hell
                        Hell is for children
And you shouldnt have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

Its all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
Youre daddys good girl, and dont tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and youll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell off the swing

                        Because hell
                        Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess

And you shouldnt have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

                        No, hell is for children

                        Hell
                        Hell is for hell
                        Hell is for hell

                          "Stupid Girl"

                          Wanna love ya
                          Wanna bug ya
                          Wanna squeeze ya
                          Stupid girl

                          Wanna touch ya,
                          Wanna take ya,
                          Wanna shut ya,
                          Stupid girl.

                          I can't take this,
                          Born to break this.

                          She's going away,
                          (She's going away)
What's wrong with my life today?
                          She's going away,
                          (She's going away)
What's wrong with my life today?
                          Stupid girl, Stupid girl

                          I'm a loner,
                          I'm a loser,
                          I'm a winner,
                          In my mind.

                          I'm a bad one,
                          I'm a good one,
                          I'm a sick one,
                          With a smile.

                          I can't take this,
                          Born to break this.

                          She's going away,
                          (She's going away)
What's wrong with my life today?
                          She's going away,
                          (She's going away)
What's wrong with my life today?
                          Stupid girl, Stupid girl

                          [acoustic break]
                          Stupid girl, Stupid girl

                          (whoa)

                          She's going away,
                          (She's going away)
What's wrong with my life today?
                          She's going away,
                          (She's going away)
What's wrong with my life today?
                          Stupid girl, Stupid girl

                          [repeat chorus til end.]

Reminds me of one of my old girlfriends. She broke up with me and to this day still has not told me why.

                              New blood joins this earth
                              And quickly he's subdued
                              Through constant pained disgrace
The young boy learns their rules

With time the child draws in
                              This whipping boy done wrong
                              Deprived of all his thoughts
The young man strugggles on and on he's doomed
                              A vow unto his own
                              That never from this day
                              His will they'll take away-eay
                              Chorus

                              What I've felt
                              What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
                              Never be
                              Never see
Won't see what might have been
                              What I've felt
                              What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
                              Never free
                              Never me
                              So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN

                              They dedicate their lives
                              To RUNING all of his
He tries to please THEM all
                              This bitter man he is
                              Throughout his life the same
                              He's battled constantly
                              This fight he cannot win
A tired man they see no longer cares
                              The old man then prepares
                              To die regretfully
That old man here is me
