I can't wait, I love my Char's Attack and Naruto Gashapons I got in Japan, they're so cool. ^.^

Alto, that was uncalled for. There is no need for personal attacks here.

And I heard about this on Mainichi. But right now, it's just for Bandai/Namco ventures, and from what I've heard, it's only Power Rangers, Hello Kitty and some other stuff I don't care about that will make it over here.

I have high hopes, but I'm not sure if gashapon will catch on in the states.

And my thunder is gone. I shall watch in dispair as the topic slowly fades away baring no significance to the world in any way...

I fix:

I feel better now.

I guess I just wanted to know what Gashapon is.

Those little toys that come inside capsules. You can assemble them yourself. Most of them come from machines and cost anywhere from 100-500 yen each.
Here are some gashapon John Mora might enjoy looking at:
SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEE!!!! (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=348&item=5979088298&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)

Since Konami has done gashapon sets each MGS game, I'm sure there will be a set out for Snake Eater soon.

I did not know that.

Does Kinder Surpriz count as Gashapon, by the way?

You know, I would count them as gashapon, since they include figures and miniature items/figures to assemble. I suppose that's really up to who you ask.

By the way, I love those things. My german friends would always bring me back a case of them from their trips. I miss those wonderful light and dark chocolate eggs filled with toys that american children would choke on!

B-but while Kinder toys are neat and fun, they aren't nearly as awesome as Gashapon. o_O

I keep getting those darn puzzles! :upset

Even if I'm not in the US, I'm not gonna worry. It'll come to Canada several years later, just like everything else that comes to the US first. :lol

I wish I was making it up, but it's basically true. Happy Meals didn't exist in Canada till I was about ten. I'd get so mad as a kid, seeing them advertised on US TV but not being able to by one and get a cool toy. :(

*ahem* Anyway... yay for Gashapon! I'll look forward to the day I see them all over the place, and not just at comic/game stores for $10 each. :P

Oh, wait, those kinda look like the FMA figures they have out now.

Yeah, there are gashapon for EVERYTHING.
Here's proof. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Nixon/gashaponmadness.jpg)

Not included in the photo shoot: Dave's DOA:XBV Tina gashapon (she's got a lot of detail which includes CAMEL TOES....) :lol

Also, here is one of my favorite kinder egg prizes - aladdin with the genie!
Nifty. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/Nixon/kinder.jpg)
This one is second only to the one that let you build a toy of a guy riding a bike (that really "worked"). I think they had better toys back a few years ago.

Yeah, I don't really like the face on my Roy Mustang figure.

Some gashapon are kinda lame. The best ones I've seen are the later runs of the AKIRA figures. The paint, detail and sculpting on those figures is incredible.

But rest easy, since FMA is so popular, they probably already have multiple sets or will in the future.

Cool! That's one of the first gashapon I ever purchased! I got that and the original gundam RX-78. I love DOMS!!!

I wish I could just pick the FMA figure I want, but it's random. :\

I mean, who wants a WINRY figure?

Nixon

You can order the individual ones (or even a full set) off eBay. If you don't mind buying from an overseas seller, you can snag full sets for CHEAP then re-sell the ones you don't want (or give them to friends).
